I ordered a pair of Ugg Knightsbridge from this website on 13th Oct, paid £134 which was cheap compared to Uk prices.
I was expecting customs charges of about £26 after reading this forum. Didn't receive a letter about charges due to postal strike, so took a chance and rang local parcelforce depot. They had it there so I went to pick it up.
I was a bit shocked at customs charges - £43.42!
    Breakdown on parcel was -
    Import duty £11.71,
    Vat £23.71
    Parcel force handling fee £8.
Still worked out cheaper than any I can find in shops, but did take 2 weeks to arrive. Would have been longer had I waited for customs letter to arrive!

    Has anybody else paid vat?

Claire09, I think you were let off lightly! If you put the info in at dutycalculator.com, (you have to register an email address - don't worry, they haven't ever spammed me!) it shows that the VAT is correct at 15%, but the import duty should have been higher, at 17%, or approx £22.78. Parcel Force fee on top of that of course.
Looks like ParcelForce made an error in your favour.

Just to add to anyone considering buying from the USA - ALWAYS calculate VAT and import duty before importing, and use that website I mentioned or one similar.

For example, if you had ordered a pair of boots that were worth £120 or less (total cost including shipping), you would have paid no import duty at all. This is also why it is rarely better to order several pairs at once from the US to save on shipping.

M & M Direct did have some for £99 - was at the back of their catalogue. No idea on stock now though - worth a look?

I posted on here just over a a week ago to say that I'd ordered from this site too. I picked up my boots yesterday from Parcelforce. I had ordered 2 pairs of Sunburst boots so the total customs etc was £72.35 for both pairs, there was a charge for VAT, but I knew this as I rang Customs & Excise before ordering to find out what the %'s were, I was told it's 15% VAT and 17% customs charges then parcelforce charge of £8, obviously the charges are based on whatever the value is entered of the items by the sender.

So altogether I've worked out they cost £155 per pair, instead of the £230 such places as Schuh and Office are selling them for. Worth the 12 day wait.

Korey at the shop was really helpful and I'd definitely buy from them again, am very happy and can't wait to wear them!!
  • Hi guys.
I received my uggs yaaaaay! I got the tall uggs andthe scuffette slippers (both of which i'm absolutely ADORING!) yay. With the discount, they came to £115. I had free shipping to Canada (my dad was there at the time.... luckily they arrived 10 minutes before he left for the airport). The canadian customs charges were $35, so roughly £17! I really lucked out.

So, if you order something that comes to $199 (todays ex.rate) inc postage you shouldn't have to pay import duty?
Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!

I want to know that too! (BUMP!) as according to google, it comes to £120.47. Question is, does 47p make all the difference?

And if so, what would the cost be? there would be tax of £18.07 and then handling fees of around £10? anything else or is that it?
