Visa and the 450875 prefix

Visa have now updated their systems so that 450875 will be treated as a visa debit card, rather than an electron card.

It will probably still take some time for this to be implemented everywhere.

Just out of curiosity I made a payment to Marisota using the Co-op's cashminder card, it came up as Electron. So it should start showing up as Visa debit soon?0

This is Tesco's response to an email asking about Visa Electron and the new Co-op Visa Debit card. They must have know already that Visa were changing the BIN type.

Dear Mr ,
Thank you for your email addressed to Sir Terry Leahy, our Chief Executive, to which I have been asked to reply.
I have reviewed your comments and spoken to our IT Operations department, who deal with online payments and acceptance. They have advised that, as the Co-Operative Bank are not changing their card numbers, they are still recognised currently as Visa Electron by our systems, as you mention in your email. This is something that will be updated by our authorising bank, and the BIN numbers will be changed from being recognised as Electron, to Visa Debit.
Our Authorisation Centre perform their updates quarterly, and this may cause a delay in the meantime, and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may be experienced. Please accept my assurances that once this information has been updated, these Visa Debit cards will be accepted online, and with our other services that do not currently accept Visa Electron.
I can also confirm that we are in the process of making changes and updates to our Grocery Homeshopping System, in order to enable us to accept Visa Electron. However I am unable to provide a timescale at present as to when this change may take place.
Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to contact our Chief Executive. I hope that my explanation has gone some way to clarify our position.
Kind Regards
Kirsten Callan

You are planning to clear off £8,724.10 in 11 weeks? Good job that man! :jI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
Yup! Although to be fair I've been working away at it all year; it's just in my savings account rather than Barclays. I can't overpay the loan, so they only way to settle is in a lump sum when the numbers tip the scale in my favour .Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
