The charity thread has got me thinking, recently a friend of mine bought a new book for £6.99  worse, I had a copy she could have had. Now when I have finished reading a book I pass it on to my friend who passes it on etc. etc. friends also do the same for me. The result; I am reading books I wouldn't normally have read and enjoying them and I don't have to buy as many books (saving me a fortune).
I also thought this could work for anything. How often have you gone out and bought a juicer or any other such item only to use it once and put it in a cupboard never to see the light of day! I am sure there are people out there who really want to buy a juicer but have a breadmaker in the back of the cupboard they never use. I'm not suggesting we start a swap shop on here but it could be something you could do with friends and relatives at home - pursuade them to have a clear out of there kitchen cupboards and make a list of everything they don't want or use any more then negotiate a swap based on the lists, you might not be able to just swap but you might pick up a breadmaker for 1 juicer + £20 or 1 juicer and a fondue set. - Empties your cupboard AND saves money.

I agree, but I wish that people would stop giving me chocolate fondue sets as I can't even give them away! I do swap books with my friends, family etc. It's such a good way of reading new things, like you say Galitzz. However, my copy of "Pretty Woman" is going no where.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

Why don't we set up an online swap shop here?
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I was reading in a magazine about a new(ish?) UK website called SWAPZ which does precisely what you are suggesting
http://www.swapz.co.uk/ I haven't used the site, nor am I affiliated.

I thought friends and family (i.e non- MSE'ers) are more likely to want 'trendy' things like fondue sets and would want to get rid of bulky stuff, like breadmakers that we MSE'ers love
I also thought the postage might be quite expensive on some things.
It would be a great idea to try swapping on here especially light stuff, what has anyone got that they would like to swap? I've got a fondue setWhen life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
