Young Persons Car Insurance

Hi,
I'm a 23 year old male looking for insurance for my first car - a 99 Civic 1.4.
I have read the guides and tried numerous different combination's to get the lowest price. (storing in garage, driveway, mileage, 2nd experienced driver to lower the premium). Also I have only had my license since Feb 09
I have tried several direct and many comparison sites, the cheapest I have found is £1326 3rd P F&T from E car insurance (from confused and comparethemarket) & 65 i think off quid co.
To me this sounds ridiculously expensive, I have looked on forums and some have a lot lower:
"just got a quote for a 1.4 Skoda Fabia comfort x reg (2001), im 21, only had my license a year, and have only drove for a month anyways, Quinn Direct gave me quote of £635 for TPFT or £740 for fully comp." (posted june 09)
Can anyone recommend any other insurers, tips to lower my quote or why mine is so high. Alternatively a confirmation that reality hurts!
Thanks in advance,
Al

Hi Relic
When we insured our 18 year old son for using our 1.4 SEAT Ibiza, we found Direct Line to be the cheapest by quite a bit. Have you tried them?Be the change you want to see0 -
problem is you have chosen a civic, if you had gone for a skoda it would be cheaper, butyou have chosen a car that is chosen by the under 25's and is usually heavily modified, and has a boy racer image.
I know its hard to get insurance my first year was £1300 for a1.1 pug 205 TPFT, i always added someone over 25 to my insurance and it always brought it down but added that its garaged (only if it is) and under 10k per annum thats about all you can do.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Thanks for your replies, I did pretty much all insurers from a to z. E Car insurance came out the cheapest and I ended up biting the bullet and spending £1350!.
Slightly painful but I'm sure I'll get over it and now I can hopefully jump on the car ladder and start getting NCB's

Bit late now, but youngmarmalade.co.uk would have done insurance for around £600 if you had bought a 1.4 engine car through them.0

Young Marmlades Policy is underwritten by Zenith who if you have ever had dealings with them you would probably avoid as they are a cheap and not very cheerfull Insurer0

There are three things people generally lie about. How much they get paid, how much they pay for car insurance, and how much their children sleep at night.
Everyone wants to think that they have the best deal.0
