how to read some subscription financial websites without a subscription legally

i thought about posting this on the freebies board but decided it was better off here as it might interest many who want to read financial magazines without needing to buy subscriptions.
many websites try to have their cake and eat it too. they want more referrals from other sites like google and diggit etc and allow free access if reffered from those websites while anyone wanting to see articles on their actual website might be barred saying for subscriber use only. well two can tango and use the referral policy to get free access legally.
there are round about ways or direct ways depending on what suits you. one can read the wall street journal and even the FT without a subscription any number of times with these methods. i guess this would have already been used by many but just mentioning this method for the benefit of those that cant read the websites as they havent subscribed to it.
before anyone accuses me of encouraging theft, let me point out that it is far from that, the magazines themselves want more referrals from google etc so give free access when linked via google or diggit etc and one is just using the same access to read the articles. so this isnt illegal. the firefox method seems quicker i think rather than the google method. any website that allows google to index its articles should theoretically be accessible via these methods i think and that should cover about every major finance magazine or website that has some sort of relationship with google. think of this method as a vouchercodes discount and they have just freely distributed the vouchers online for everyone to see, so they cant fault people for using the voucher codes to get the product for free.
see these two links for how http://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-read-the-wsj-for-free-online-2009-6
for the firefox method see this link http://machinist.salon.com/blog/2008/03/21/wsj/index.html
i guess the same method will work for anything published on the net and needed subscribing and also indexed by google.
anyway all the magazines and newspapers etc can be accessed here as posted before http://www.thebigproject.co.uk/news/ or financial news on http://www.thebigproject.co.uk/money.htm  happy money saving

With FT.com I look at the full url and there's a bit in there that says "false", which I swap to say "true" and it works. (Or it might be the other way round, but it works anyway).0

with the FT just deleting the cookies on IE works as well but that doesnt work on wall street journalbubblesmoney :hello:0

Useful technique, it works for lots of sites which try to keep their content private to their members including this ghetto part of the MSE forum.
When approaching a site via Google, I usually use the Cached
copy on Google anyway because:
It will load quickly.
The search terms are highlighted and explained (eg in the links not on the actual page), so I can decide if I want to investigate further.
I'll get the whole thing.
I won't get an assault from a "drive by" virus infection (I hope).
The down side is:
The cached version might be out of date.
If you post a link to the cached version, you may get unexpected results.
Any way here is a bit of serendipity from using Google to dodge the Wall Street Journal's subscription gate keeper:
Web Ad Sales Open Door to Viruses
Complex System of Middlemen, Resellers, Auctions Creates Vulnerabilities

On a Saturday night at the end of May, visitors to the forums section of Digital Spy, a British entertainment and media news Web site, were greeted with an ad that loaded malicious software onto their computers. The Web site's advertising system had been hacked.....................

regarding the adverts one can use firefox with the adblocker and be rid of the problem of adverts giving viruses i think, coming from a nontechie like me.
my comp once got a virus from a popular hotel chains (with hotels all over uk) website in the uk. i was pretty sure it was that site as everytime i accessed their website odd things would go wrong with the comp but if accesses a different bit of their webpage that didnt happen. i alerted them to it but the jerks at the desk at the hotel i was staying at denied there was a problem and buried their heads in the sand, needless to say i dont plan on using their website again.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

IIRC a popular computer magazine managed to send out a free cover-mounted CD ROM with a virus on it.0 -
Paid subscriptions are a way for magazines to increase their revenue stream and probably not so legal.
Thread locked pending decisions by MSE abuse team as a) potentially illegal and b) off-topic for this board.0
