Default Free (£70) tastelondon card, 2,000 available

UPDATE 04 June

All the free annual memberships have gone now, you can still get a one month trial if you sign up now.

What's the deal?

We’ve blagged 2,000 free, year-long memberships for MoneySavers for tastelondon. It's a discount scheme that normally costs up to £70 to join, and gives a card to get up to 50% off, at 800 restaurants in the South East of England.

How to get one.

As the weekly e-mail takes 18 hours to send, to make sure those who receive it first don’t snap all the memberships up, it'll only be available from 2pm Thursday (4 June).

If this can be preserved for people who regularly eat out in london, that would be brilliant, as it would mean those who get best value will use it; please don't apply just for a one off. Also the cards have your name printed on them and are non-transferable (so cannot be sold on eBay).

Go to this tastelondon page at 2pm on Thurs 4 June

The first 2,000 applicants will get the memberships and they're likely to go at superspeed, so be quick. After they’ve all gone, there’ll be a chance to grab a one month trial membership instead (it will say clearly which one you’re getting).

Where it works.

The advantage of the card over normal deals is you get a book with a list of the restaurants, which include many non-chain places, as well as bigger groups like Thai Square and the Real Greek.

Finally, if possible, call ahead and book when using the card; if not check before you order that it'll be accepted as some restaurants can get mardy if you suddenly produce it at the end of the meal.

For those who get the cards, please feedback on your experiences of tastelondon.

Of course there are lots more daily updated deals available to everyone across the country in the restaurant vouchers guide.

Enter e-mail to get it:

Awesome, I'm there! Let's hope tastelondon have put a bit more thought into it this time and that the site doesn't crash and burn like it did last time...

Can anyone confirm whether this is REALLY a genuine first-come-first-served offer (as advertised) or whether they are just going to be yanking our poor old chains like last time?

I would really like one of these

Completely agree about the Pizza Express deal. 50% off the total food bill as well, so I can feast on dough balls as well as my American Hot!!!!!! There are quite a few pizza express deals out there, but this is defo the best, and if you manage to get one at that price its a no-brainer!!!

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too.
I think of you in silence,I often speak your names.
All i have are memories, and your picture in a frame,
Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part.
God has you in His keeping,I have you in my Heart.

Hey, thanks for this!!!!! & thanks for the thoughts and planning so it will be appreciated and not wasted from both sides.

Know this is a money 'saving' site (as opposed to profit making) & have personally never really got to grips with people sending off for a freebie only to put on e-bay! - always thought things on here are for the recipient to have fun and to enjoy themselves and to experience/have access to things they may not normally be able to and not to sell for profit.

Yikes, may be sounding pious to some & do know that every penny counts when desperate - also know this thread isn't place to get on soap box but have recently thought board is used by some for those who aren't desperate financially or wanting to experience things but just to make a quick buck.

any way i'll shut up now and thanks for great freebie!!!!

Don't want this post to generate unwanted traffic/discussion in debate rather than focusing on freebie so any BG delete if you want and thanks again for freebie.

I got one of these cards when they did a similar prize draw for a free card a month or so ago. I managed to win one. I've used it about six times since (including last night saving £34), probably saved a packet in total.
It's a pretty good scheme, better than the offers on toptable. It's not that useful on Friday or Saturday nights though - these days are usually excluded (apart from Pizza Express and Prezzo). But it makes going out for dinner during the week much more affordable, and you won't have a shortage of people inviting you out for dinner
What have you got to lose?

I remember doing this recently...indeed it was very chaotic! But I'm going to try again...hopefully this time TasteLondon has enough bandwidth to handle us all!

Didn't they say the same last time - first 2000 get them. Then it turned out to be a draw.

No, it was definitely the first 2,000. They came on the forum to explain that they had used the wrong terminology and published a winner's list on here of the first 2,000 to enter. Then everyone else got a one month card.

Last time they gave away 2000 to anyone and everyone.

Looks like this time it's just for this blog, though that website address is bound to get around by Thursday.

So, better odds this time!

I got one last time and made Pizza Express pizzas affordable (GBP5 a pop). Doesn't apply to drinks though - damn!

I won one of the annual memberships last time they ran this offer. It was well worth persevering with the server problems IMO. Have made lots of savings already and impressed my friends no end!

I won one last time as well - so did my mate. I'm sure they'll fix the server problems after all the whinging we did here. Perhaps they'll change the phrase "thank you for entering the DRAW" cos that's why we all thought it was a scam.

if u haven't already tried 1 of these i can definitely recommend it. i've been a member for a while and bought mine through a metro offer which was about £45.

the OH is going to enter this tomorrow, which means if he wins i dont have to pay £45 to renew!!!!!!

thanks for the post

My boyf won one of these last time - we've used it at Pizza Express and it's great as is valid on a Friday! Looking forward to using it more - a really great initiative. We might even consider buying one next year...

Top spot. Didn't see it last time the offer was run, but have trialed with them before. They seem to have far more restaurants than they did previously, and as it's a winner takes all I dont really see any drawbacks. I'll be there at 1:59pm hitting refresh over and over again!!!!!!!
