Why do so many Ebayers ignore BIN?

A couple of days ago I bought a computer program for £13 BIN on Ebay (incl postage). I originally bid on an auction but was outbid by someone with no feedback and I was worried he was a shiller so I decided not to increase my maximum (even though, at £5, it wasn't the actual maximum I was willing to spend).

Anyway, I have just received an email telling me that auction finished at £27  - before postage.

There are still plenty of BINs available for under £15, so why does this happen? I have seen it lots of times now.

That is the cray world of Ebay, same reason that 2 similar items sell for a totally different price.

Ebay is indeed a crazy world. My mum wanted a DVD of Open All Hours so I said I'd see if there was one on ebay. There were two DVDs of the series she wanted when I looked. One DVD had several bids and was currently going for about £8. The other DVD had no bids and was £1.99. I won the £1.99 because no one else bid whilst the price of the other one went even higher! The one I bid for was in mint condition, the listing was all correct (no spelling mistakes etc), the postage was reasonable and the seller had 100% feedback. I can't understand why no one else bid on it!

I see this happening too and laugh too!

I always get Epson cartridges off ebay. The genuine ones on buy it now are so much cheaper than buying them either in the shops or in an auction - in an auction they go for so much - people dont realise that they can pay over £10 less and buy it now!

I got a 1gb MP3 player for £27 (including P&P) the same one in the shops was £49.99 so I was very pleased. The seller had several going, all the same colour etc but one was going for £40 odd while the one I won only got 3 bids.

All the better for me :T

It's not just BINs - that cause people to be myopic.

They're the same ones that bid on PayPal only items - but don't have an account! That bid remorselessly on digital cameras - because the seller has put a high £RRP in the listing - but oblivious that a shopbot will find the same item £50 less than the current bid. And that from a reputable UK source without the risk of a grey import and a CD in Chinese and no manual or UK warranty!
And, even worse, outbid me on a £1.99 Lemmings game. When I was having withdrawal symptoms from the one my son took to Uni (with the console), so decided to bid on one for my PC of 15 (all separate listings) someone had for sale. I deliberately bid on the middle one so no one would bother me. But some moron did just that. Couldn't believe the 'outbid' notice - and the fact the other 14 were all untouched at expiry!

So peeved - I never have got round to getting one. Good job I couldn't get his Email address - my keyboard would have run out of '****'s.
