Weekly Spend Challenge W/C 11th Jan

This challenge used to run every week (thanks to Moozie and PAP) but I have not seen it in a while so I hope no one minds but I need this to keep me on track especially for the new year so....

Good evening everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenege. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

  • Welcome everyone I am pledging £20 again this week as I am sure I will need a few treats as I have a week of revision ahead.:o

I came in under budget last week so I am very pleased with that. I have updated the totals from last week's thread and any pledges for this week.

Let us know you results from last week and your pledge for this week and I will update the list.

    Good luck everyone.

    hi
can I join please? I have £5 in my purse and so I will use this as a target to stay under. I'm at work all week so hopefully should stay on target. I am also taking part in the NSD challenge so this should help that too! No good for saving my £2 coins though!!

    Hello!

I'm going for £20 again including milk, bread etc. I am going to get my groceries for next week later on this evening, so shouldn't have any major expenditure, especially after my Epic Fail on this challenge this week :rotfl:

*edit* My final total for last week was £106.25....oh, the shame!

Thanks for starting a new thread. :)

My pledge is £15, which includes airport car park (though if I time it correctly, then I could possibly do this for free... that's if flight isn't delayed... :) )

Can't think of any extras that I need to buy this week - just my 1/2 pint when I do my pub work on Friday. (£1.25, but often my boss buys it for me, so again, not necessarily a spend...)
    Natwest CC - [STRIKE]£2545[/STRIKE] now £0 :j

    Hi Pointypenguin,

I'm spurred on by last week's success. I only spent £13.67 of my £20 :D

Please put me down for £20 again - and it's to cover all essentials too.

    x
    Looking forward to the future.

Hi! I'm new to all this so I'm going to say £40, which seems to be higher than what a lot of people put on here, but that's normally what I spend on groceries every week, so that is going to have to cover all my entertainment, travel costs etc.

  • I have just updated totals and pledges.

Glad to see we have a good sized bunch for the coming week. Anyone else interested please feel free to join the more the merrier.

Ladymay £40 sounds a good amount to start with especially as it is including groceries. I only include extra spends that are not budgeted for elsewhere but feel free to include whatever you want to.

Piquant sorry about the bill sometimes it is hard to plan for the unexpected.:(

babs2008 well done on being under budget.:T

Raychee gold star for last week. Good luck with the airport parking I never understand how they can get away with charging so much it is daylight robbery.

flying_fresian good luck for the week ahead I am sure you will make it. I love all your smilies especially on the PAD thread where I am a secret lurker.

utopiah I am trying do do the NSD challenge too but not doing so well so far but hopefully next week will be better.
