    Well here we are a year later and with lots of overpaying done. It has been great fun doing this thread and I am looking forward to continuing my MF journey with you all in 2009.

    And finally what we have all been waiting for - in 2008 we have overpaid the following amount off our mortgages:

    £461519.46
    Well done to everyone who overpaid in 2008 - this is a fantastic total and one we should be proud of! Good luck for 2009 and thanks to Zav for taking on the thread!

    Wow, that's fantastic! If it wasn't for everybody on this thread, I don't think I would have even considered paying off extra on the mortgage.

    Well done bellsbells, hope the little 'un is doing well!

    PS( I hope MSE Martin sees this figure; what a great bit of PR for MSE!)
    Target acheived: _party_ Mortgage offset in June 2012!_party_
    Mortgage = -£98
    Endowment = £0
    Investments = £40,247

    Why not try and make it a cool £1m for 2009? Got to be achievable, right?!

    Wow. When you think a lot of this is money we would have spent on glittery nail varnish and drinks at the bar it is quite a total :)

    Well done everyone and thanks again bellsbells.

    I'm also going to post a link to this in our original thread since I didn't realise it was on a seperate one :) lazily I just usually work from my usercp

    Phew I can breath now, was holding my breath on the other thread and thought bb was too busy to post totals - but I knew she wouldn't let us down:A Thanks Belfastgirl for tipping off re where totals were posted:T

    I think the million pound target could be doable, especially as the saving rates are so rubbish, I expect more people to be putting their money into overpayments rather than savings just now. Just wish I wasn't tied into a mortgage than only allows 5% overpayments otherwise I would be mf well within the 4 years that it is going to take me.

    Good luck to all on their mf journey, thanks to Bellsbells for running the 2008 thread and to Zav for taking on the 2009 one.:T

    2009 target so far is in excess of £820k and I think that a cool £1 million will definately be achivevable if we keep getting newbies at the rate they are all joining us - how good is that - We have already OP'd nearly £20k!!!! :j

    Well done to all of us, I am so proud to have been part of this challenge and the inspiration it gave me to pay off my mortgage even earlier than I had planned.
    A huge round of applause for Bellsbells for all the work she put into the thread and keeping the totals updated.

    Wishing everyone good luck and happy OP's on the 2009 thread.
