Do Tesco still take Sainsburys vouchers? (e.g. £3 off a £30 shop)???
Comments
-
Tesco official policy is that they DO accept Sainsbury, Morrison and Waitrose linked save coupons, ie Spend £30 get £3 off etc,
BUT, either they do not bother to inform all their stores - or the stores management take the deliberate decision NOT to pass the information onto their staff on the cs desk, nor on the tills
I have phoned up head office and had the policy recited word-for-word, but you try and get some bolshey cs or till supervisor to believe you.
I have told them to phone head office - but they come back and say they don't accept them, so I assume they just phone somebody higher up the food chain in their own store.
By the way, head office didn't ask where I lived, or if I had a Sainsburys or Waitrose near by. Their policy is their policy, which just like DTD, some stores and staff chose to deliberately ignore when the mood takes them.
I wish some Tesco employee who knows their onions would explain WHY stores refuse to honour these, when Head office say they should0 -
Tesco Coupon Update (being briefed to staff)
We do not accept damaged, copied or defaced coupons
All coupons can be used on self service checkouts
The Store Manager may use their discretion to refuse coupons if they believe a customer is abusing the policy
Supplier Coupons:
Issued by suppliers such as coca cola etc
No limit on how many different coupons can be presented
Only one supplier coupon can be accepted per item not purchased
If the coupon does not scan type barcode manually
Competitors' Conditional Spend Coupon:
We can accept competitor conditional spend coupons from - Asda, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Waitrose, Aldi, Marks & Spencers, Co-op and Boots
Coupon must state its for use in store
For all conditional spend coupons, more than one coupon can be used providing the conditional spend is met, i.e. 2 x £3 off £30 shop, £60 must be spent
Competitor Product Coupon
eg save 50p on fruit at asda
We do NOT accept these
Internet Coupons
Issued by suppliers such as coca cola etc
No limit on how many different coupons can be presented
Only one branded coupon can be accepted per item not purchased
Coupon can be in colour or black & white but must not look like a photocopied coupon
For coupons for the same product, ensure the serial numbers are different
If a coupon does not scan, type barcode manually
Hope this helps!!
p.s the policy states that if the store manager thinks that u r abusing the policy they can refuse, if ur using a conditional spend and you've spent the threshold, stand your ground, ask if you can use an instore phone to phone dundee customer service - 0800 50 55 55 and get dundee to confirm to you and then the team leader that the voucher can be used!!!!Official DribblerThis is the year to #getfit0 -
tescos are no longer taking the waitrose coupons in the north. as its not a competeter as waitrose is down south. they do take sainsburys ones as long as the arnt for pesific products
It's such a shame that you believed that lie, it's all too common when stores try to find a reason to refuse a voucher.
If you still have the £10 voucher, send it off with your receipt (with a spend over £60 and dated w/e 13th) to Tesco Customer Services at Dundee asking for reimbursement because your store wrongly refused to honour it. Proximity of the rival is completely irrelevant to this policy, Tesco accept scannable conditional spend vouchers from ANY of the stores stated (thanks to Hales for posting the most recent wording sent to stores).
Shame on that Tesco store. :mad:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well, I didn't get there yesterday (too much else to do !) but went this morning and used both a £3 off a £30 shop and a £2 off a £20 shop (plus 2 other small manufacturers coupons) ...... so I guess they've started taking coupons again at my local ! :j
Thanks for all the replies and the clarification Hales - much appreciated :jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -

I can only speak personally, and I didn't believe their lies, but it was impossible to get them to accept my coupon, even though I had already gone armed with the knowledge from Tesco HQ.
Till operator said no - so I said Ask your supervisor
Supervisor said no - so I said ask head office
Several minutes later he returned to say No
By which time the queues of impatient fed up customers was growing behind me and poor sa on till was getting near to tears - when it wasn't her fault at all.
I was not loud, aggressive or anything, just kept on asking them to check their facts.
You all know I am right, I knew I was right, I even ended up taking it to CS and having a further debate with them, but they ALL were absolutely adamant that Tescos do not take these vouchers. I told them to phone head office - and they did phone someone, but came back saying NO.
At the end of the day I cannot take the money out of their till.
But they can bare-faced lie to customers day in day out.
On the one hand ( as I said in my earlier post) it could be down to Tesco Gods not sending the information down to stores, BUT, I cannot believe that when I asked them to phone head office they did any more than phone someone within their own store, who just said NO
It took me one phone call to Head office to get the correct policy
Therefore why can cs staff not bother to make the exact same phone call ?
I think this harks back to many cs staff attitude. If they are handing out money to customers, for vouchers or DTD, it feels like it is coming out of their own pocket.
If you have read the Mis-price thread for any length of time you will have read frequent accounts of certain Stores where cs refuse absolutely to give DTD, despite what the blue board says. They come up with every and any excuse possible to deny giving DTD.
Sorry, rant over ( for now) but just fed up that I wasted so much of my valuable time in front of hundreds of customers and got absolutely no-where.
All very well saying send receipt to head office, but some of my shopping was presents, so I need to keep receipt in case need to change size etc.0 -
Tried to use my Waitrose voucher the other day, but checked at customer service desk before filling my trolley.
Was told that they don't take spend and save vouchers "that are in newspapers" only ones sent to customers in the post.
Couldn't be bothered to argue, they make it up as they go along.0 -

I am sorry, Stoopid, I can see you really went through the mill with trying to get that flippin' voucher accepted. I didn't realise you'd gone through all that hassle, been there done that and it's no fun at all.
If you still have the voucher you could take a photocopy of your receipt and send it with that to Dundee (black out the clubcard and transaction number/time/till no if you want to keep fairly anonymous, and use a relative's surname & addy on your letter). Make sure you tell the relative that any Tesco letter they then receive is for you though, or they might pocket your giftcard compensation!
Don't you just hate stores where they lie, whenever a policy is actually in a customer's favour? :mad:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Don't throw it away, that cashier was wrong. Use it next time or the time after.
There are plenty of new cashiers this time of year who wouldn't know the coupon policy
(:D even tho' coupons are at the forefront of our minds, they are not always such a priority in some stores' training AFAIK). So now's the time to 'teach' them by asking them to check with a Supervisor - so they can become happy scanners in the future!
Then there are the miserable old-school cashiers who like to pretend they don't know the policy (the truth being they just don't like it!). Avoid unless you fancy a fight!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
