BT Price Increase

Options
:j BT are increasing the charge raised for using 1471 (3). The current fee raised for using the service is 6p, this is raising to 7.5pence. 1471 will still remain free, but using the call return element of the service will have a 7.5p fee riased and the cost of the call.

aviod the fee by noting the number rom 1471 and dialing it direct.

Get a phone with Caller Display, the service is now free, there's a thread about it somewhere.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Order BT Privacy at Home which includes free caller display and registers you for TPS by dialling 0800 916 5544 (available 24 hours a day). Automated service.

Having BT privacy at home doesn't stop you getting charged for 1471 3

No it would not stop you being charged for 1471 (3), but on most phones you can check a list of your last calls, if you have caller display. You can often use the call list to dial the number back, this way avoiding having to use 1471 at all.

    No it doesnt .

The fee applies when customers press "3" to return the call to the telephone number of the last caller and worth noting is its charged regardless of whether or not the call is connected. Dialling BT 1471 without using the Call Return will remain a free service."

I thought it was 6p anyway?

It has been 6p for donkeys, so I don't exactly why the original post said it was going up to 6p.

Although he is right in that the price is going up, it is going up to 7p. I would need to check when it is going up and it might 7.5p, but will have to wait for when I am back in work.
If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.

7p is a disgrace... well 6p is aswell tbh... so for example:

you dial 1471 and connect to 01253 123456, goes to BT answer as nobody answers...

    you therefore pay:
    1471 charge = 7p
Min call charge = 5p (or 5.5p if on Option 1).
    ---

Total Cost: 13p... for not speaking to anybody...

    its an outrage...

does anybody know if TalkTalk and other WLR providers add this charge? I haven't seen it anywhere tho tbh.
