What can I eat for lunch?

Ok I need some help. Bit bizarre!
I'm after something tasty, interesting and low in fat/calories which I can eat everyday (with varations) which is cheaper than buying a sandwich/crisps/chocolate everyday from the local shop.
I work in an IT office so having to cook anything or anything thats messy is a bit challenging and not fabourable.
Any ideas?

hi cup cake
i take my own lunch to work too - we have a microwave in the canteen but there are often big queues for it.
At the start of the week i buy a lettuce (60p) an cucumber (50p) a few tomatoes and a tub of lo cal cole slaw.
last week i had salmon for 3 days - one big tin cost 90p fronm the co op
top it up with pasta - i make mine as soon as i get in from work the night before - stick it in the fridge - it is fine the next day.
Also - buy a flask - soup is still hot after 6 or 7 hours - a bread roll (no butter though) very filling.
Cheers

Cheers Graham. I have to be careful, obviously working in IT. Also I hadn't factored the queue from other staff into the equation.
I'm going to have a look around Sainsburys tomorrow and see what ideas I can come up with but crisps and chcolate are just making me fat.0 -
How about buying a pack of pitta bread then you can change the filling every day?
I like left over roast chicken, low fat mayo with lettuce & cucumber - yum!
I also bring cheese and crackers which are cheap and filling.Debt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -
The best way to do without chocolate is just stop - my ex bet me i couldn't go a year without chocolate - that was 4 years ago - i do (did) like chocolate - just say no
there are a few people at work who want to lose weight - and a lot of times for birthdays or whatever there are chocolates around the office - they will stand over the box and justify to themselves why they should have one (or 4 or 5) . i have to behave myself not to shout - put them down - either decide to lose weight or eat what you want - you can't do both
sorry - went off on one again - that is my 2nd of only 2 things that get me going (the first one was one earlier )
Cheers

I buy stuff for a basic salad at the beginning of the week, leave it in the canteen fridge and add different things to it (taken in a plastic tub from home):
CANTEEN FRIDGE CONTAINS:
little gem lettuce (stays crisper than iceberg when cut)
cucumber
cherry tomatoes (don't cut them until you eat or your salad goes soggy)
very thinly sliced onion
low fat potato salad (or boiled spuds from home)
bottle of low fat vinaigrette
bottle of low fat blue cheese dressing
To this I add:
green beans (from last night's dinner), tuna, olives, hardboiled egg, low fat vinaigrette - voila, salade nicoise.
a slice of roast beef chopped up (from Sunday's roast), a pear chopped up, low fat blue cheese dressing
a bit of very strong cheddar cheese (about 25g), a cooked beetroot (the sort you get vacuum-packed but NO VINEGAR), low fat vinaigrette - interesting pink salad
I'm sure you can think of your own variations based on what you have leftover from last night's meals, and what you really like. Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you do criticise him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.0 -
While i was losing weight (8lb to go!!!) i stopped eating bread, potatos, chocolate and crisps. Just substituted the potatos for sweet potato and butternut squash, the bread (sandwiches) for wraps with salad in them or big bowls of HM veg soup (very filing) and cut out the choc and crisps. I lost 1 1/2 stone that way, when i tried eating less, i didnt lose any weight, the doctor said i wasnt eating enough!!! By eating healthily, i was able to eat more. The problem was xmas, but 6lb on  , and now im attempting to lose it again, plus the last 2lb, its always the last bit thats the hardest!!!!!
So i would advise wraps and maybe flasks of soup for lunches!!!!0
