Home Insurance Cost Cutting. New final step possibly cuts the cost by a further £50

Regulars will be familiar with my four step cost cutting system. It involves reducing the risk, then using both screenscraping websites Insuresupermarket* and Confused* to whizz round the web to find the cheapest prices from brokers and insurers. After that double check the prices.
Then the final stage is haggle. Now Barclays insurance* has a new offer, if you've not claimed for two years and it doesn't beat your renewal quote, it'll match it (with a maximum reduction of £475) and give you £50.
So if the system doesn't beat your renewal quote by £50, then grab Barclays offer. For full details read Home Insurance Cost Cutting System.

You shouldn’t notice any difference, the links don’t impact the product at all and the editorial line (the things I write) is NEVER impacted by the revenue. If it isn’t possible to get an affiliate link for the best product, it is still recommended and still included. Sorry Martin, I beat you to it today, I posted this thread at 10.32am, I have been watching too much of your tv appearances, I'm totally obsessed with money saving, and this proves you can haggle and it works.FRUGAL wrote:Hi,
Had to register at MSE to tell you my top tip, my car insurance is due within the next month so I used confused.com, and Direct Line insurance came up with a quote of £260.00, I am currently with Direct Line and the automatic renewal quote sent by post was £359.00 for like to like cover, so I telephoned Direct Line and mentioned that the Internet quoted me £260.00, it apparently happens cause the internet gives you a discount and automatic renewals don't, and here's the good bit, I mentioned that I have seen the TV advert for Barclays and they state they will beat any insurance quote, if not, they will match it and give you £50 cash in your hand, I mentioned to Direct Line that I could go to Barclays for like for like cover and it in effect cost me £210 per annum, DIRECT LINE MATCHED IT - VERY HAPPY, SAVED £149.00 ON THE AUTOMATIC RENEWAL QUOTE. :j
MAY JUST TRY TO DP THIS FOR MY HOME/CONTENTS INSURANCE JUST NOW!
Excellent website - saved a fair bit of money, changed Gas/Electricity supplier, used confused.com for car insurance, got the £10 off Egg for Money Manager and had loads of freebies threw the door. FANTASTIC! :T0
