Scottish Power "asset reunification"

hi all, i know everyone's swept up with more pressing issues like banks disintergrating and everythin but i need some advice!
I owned around 350 Scottish power shares and have been contacted by the company acting on behalf of Scottish power, following the buyout by Iberdrola apparently I'm entitled to around £1,500.
The company explains there will be a 10% finders fee. I don't want to sound stingy but I'm a skint student with lots of time and I think £150 is a rather excessive commission for simply sending me a letter and actioning a sale.
I have the original S.P. share certificate and was wondering whether I could claim the balance by doing the legwork myself and.... "save money". or is it not possible/worth the hassle?
many thanks -hopefully in advance, andeeeee!

These firms are opportunists, contact the registrar yourself and claim all of what is rightfully yours.
