Can anyone help - broken TV

Hi, not sure if this is the right place but can anyone help me. my 32in LCD TV has blown up tonight and is only 15months old. i still have the receipt but did not take out an extended warranty. Am I covered by any obscure law for this situation.

check out/search the forums here for advice on consumer law. ive seen other threads on a similar matter.
a TV should last longer than 15 months.Get some gorm.0 -
depends how much you spent aswell. ie if you bought an unknown brand at a (then) low price it is more difficult, as one of the rules applied will be that its not reasonable to expect a cheaper tv to last as long as a more expensive one0

I've read something similer, its possibly termed like "fit for purpose", you might try googling that.
Also, see link below for someone who had a similar thing with a cooker from comet and got in touch with consumer direct. The problem was resolved.

I think its down to the fact that you would expect the goods to last a reasonable amount of time and when they dont they were 'obviously' not acceptable quality.
