Searching for a new Laptop running Window XP not Vista

Everywhere I've looked all new laptops seem to be using Windows Vista which I have been told is an annoying pile of poo. Has anyone recently bought a new laptop that still runs with Windows XP that they can recommend?

My "research" so far identifies Sony and Toshiba Laptops as being well rated so any suggestions where to get one of these with XP would be especially welcome.

I would of course like to hear about Windows Vista - its perhaps a little harsh to dismiss it without personally experiencing it.

Any of the business machines still have XP on them - some even with dual boot now.
We still use XP at work here, so always keep an eye out for them.

Think Misco have plenty of XP machines - i keep getting email shots from them.

I wouldn't concern myself too much with whatever you've heard. If you struggle with change, you might find Vista a pain to get used to, but the program is fine, My sister bought one back in January and has had ZERO problems with it. I quite like it myself. Just make sure if you can to get no less than 2GB of RAM as it is a little hungry.
As for XP, if you really want it you might try Dell, though it is getting scarce, and you'll likely pay more to get it.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

    You've heard wrong.

It's more stable and secure than XP and especially for a laptop has better power management so your battery will last longer..

Thanks for the reassurances - I hope you'll all "be there" to support me when it goes belly up. Vista here I come....

I agree with the others; you should really try it out to see if you like it.

It's annoying that there are only two operating systems in the world, isn't it? ;)
