if i set up a direct debit for the full amount and say i receive a refund or if i pay online the balance before the direct debit date does the payment still go through?

Yes. If the refund related to a transaction made before your statement was printed, the direct debit would be calculated accordingly. If it resulted from a transaction made after your statement was printed, the item would not have formed part of your outstanding balance and the DD would be unaffected.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

The effect of a manual payment, when a direct debit is active on your account, varies between lenders. The variations I have encountered are:
1) The direct debit is recalculated if a payment is made at least x days before the DD is due (eg. Capital One, Egg, Bank of Ireland)
2) No account is taken of any payment made. The amount specified on your statement is automatically collected by DD unless instructed otherwise (eg. Co-Op, MBNA, RBS).People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

I don't think you can do this via the Barclaycard website. It's a case of phoning Barclaycard Card Services (01604 234234 avoids the dreaded 0870 numbers)
