If you are not 60 but are disabled you get a 50% discount on tickets. This may be helpful to people who are the same as us, hubby is over 60 and I'm not but I am disabled.
  • Use National Express fairly regularly but missed this. VMT from an over-60 years old.
    Waddle you do eh?

National Express has announced £9 to anywhere for everyone.
So just log on and book your tickets!
  • Just to say that if you're under 60 it's £9 EACH WAY, whereas for the over 60's its £9 RETURN. Still a good offer though. Happy travelling!

Theres a thread I started on the public transport board about the under 60's fayres.

I wish I could book online for mine as I travel to London every other weekend. But I dont have a printer so I would not be able to print my own ticket out :(

  • But weren't they on watchdog or similar sometime back, for treating their passengers rather like courier companies treat packages, IIIRC there was the case of the old lady wanting to go from brighton to Hastings or some such similar short journey, whilst it was cheap enough it did take rather a long time since the only way to make the journey was via their hub as Milton Keynes ( or similar)

Could have been another company, no historical stuff on Watchdog site so can't confirm one way or other
  • Hi.
My elderly mother travelled from Southampton to Scotland yesterday by National
Express coach, taking advantage of the £4.50 fare. When I phoined up to book the ticket (£1 booking fee) I was asked if she needed assistance, and she tells me that the coach drivers did look after her, and the journey, involving three coaches, was comfortable and stress free.

Must admit I've had a few less than polite drivers on National Express. One of them was severely impolite and I wrote to them with his number and a complaint. I received a gift voucher which came in handy as I use the service every other weekend.

Worth checking https://www.megabus.com just in case you can get the same route for less. They do undercut National Express at times - just check the price, times and route they take to see if its worth your while.
