Light Bulbs

Options
realised last night that my stairs seemed dimly lit, anyway, to cut a long story short dusted my light bulbs this morning, and was amazed at the difference it made. well worth doing it you have 5 mins. (lightshades too) I used a barely damp cloth with some lemon juice on, and smells lovely when bulbs get warm.

Never thought of that one! Does the barely damp cloth with lemon juice work for fabric shades?

Cleaning ya windows and mirrors has the same effect of brightening your home. Amazing isn't it. I guess you don't notice the gradual dimming.

a very very well wrung out cloth, wiped gently over the surface cleans fabric shades. i don't do it with lemon in though, just water.

How clever of you to think of using lemon juice! I'll be doing that now.

I used to have some lampshade cleaning pad thingies from Lakeland (!!) but didn't find them wonderful.

Thanks, that's great 160. Don't want to get it wrong.

I had some of those pads that jaybee was talking about from Lakeland, but we decided that they didn't work because the shades in our house when we moved in were too filthy. Or we didn't use enough elbow grease!

i often rub with a drop of essentail oil too. esp when visitors coming. also a tissue with a drop or two on on radiator makes a lovely warm atmosphere.

have heard you can use bread to clean fabric lamp shades. You just roll it into a ball first.
