A lot of your symptoms sound like it could be under-active thyroid gland. It would be worth asking your doctor to check this out with a blood test. Please Google hypothyroidism and have a read, it really does fit with a lot of your problems. I was diagnosed in December and have been on thyroxine since, still not shifting any weight and I still get palpitations, but do feel a lot better. Also started getting menopause symptoms at the same time - hot flushes and night sweats. Have cured them by taking sage capsules twice a day - thank goodness.

Please do speak to your doctor though, you really sound like you need some help.

    Take care.

    Hi,
I looked up the symptoms, the doc is testing me for that when i go next week, i was checked a year ago, but they came back normal, tho i have just read that sometimes that happens when in fact it isnt normal.
I also have carpal tunnel syndrome, and 2/3`s of the symptoms listed, but its confusing, as alot of the symptoms could be due to other things, all i know is i want so desperately to feel better.:(

I'm in total agreement, when I read your post about your hair and skin being awful, being bloated, exhausted etc it sounded like me when my thyroid packed up.

Just a quick update, ive spoken to my Sister, and didnt realise she has an under active thyroid, and so has my 3 Aunts, and my Sis seems to think that most of my symptoms could well be due to the same thing, and as its in my direct family, i think it could be too, but if the test i have next week come back normal, as it did last year, i`m sure the doc is going to say its my depression, when i KNOW its not (not saying i`m not feeling depressed, but this is different), if it comes back normal, can i asked to be tested again, or will the doc get humpy like im telling him hes not doing his job properly IYSWIM.

    Another update!
I went to my GPs today for my blood results, and its come back as "Suggestive of early menopause" I`ve got the results here, (which i`ve got to take to the gyno, when i get an appointment) but cant make much sense of them, something to do with LH and FSH levels?? Does anyone know anything about these? What do they mean etc:confused:

    Many thanks

I think LH is Luteinising Hormone and the other one is probably a hormone too, which probably detects whether you are ovulating. I think pregnancy tests look for LH levels! have you thought of homeopathy? My work colleague had her menopausal symptoms fixed within 10 days using a liquid from a homeopath. She didn't want to go down the HRT route. There are lots of natural things like Black Cohosh and Soy Isoflavins that are supposed to be natural solutions. Might be worth a go. Anyway it sounds horrid, you poor thing, my sympathies. Might be worth spending a few ££s in Holland & Barrett if you can afford it.

FSH is folicle stimulating hormone-the tests look for the levels of these hormones and depending on the time of the cycle they can tell if they are balanced.Pregnancy tests look for HCG-human chorionic gonadotrophin.
Kay is right about the natural remedies, just be careful with black cohosh as there has been some toxicity reports-never take more than the bottle states.
I have found some relief with menopace-but I think I was pretty run down anyway so needed an all-round boost! One of my firends also swears by bergen bread, available in most supermarkets-it is full of linseed including the isoflavins.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!
