New Valuation Report MoneySavers Deal

The authorative housing website Hometrack has produced an online valuation report that shows a huge raft of information (automatically produced) about the area around a specific property of your choice. Normally it costs £20, but i pushed them to allow MoneySavers to try it for £13 (there is no commerical link with this site).

Is it any good?

There are certainly a lot of statistics provided. Is it any good? if you're looking to bid on a home or sell your own, it is useful. Some of the info you can get elsewhere for free (see free info on the prices of houses sold in your area), however it is a convenient way to have a 20 page PDF with lots of stats others don't have.

The stats used are provided from banks and estate agents and conglomerated and then analysed. My overall view it as useful and interesting but by no means obligatory.

How do you get the discount?

Go to Hometrack and click the housing valuation report
Then when paying enter the following voucher code MSE12 It allows you to value up to 500 properties at £12.95 inclusive of VAT (each) - a 35% discount and the code will be live from tomorrow evening. The offer will terminate upon the earlier of 500 purchases or 10 December 2005.

To gain access to the offer your users will need to enter the code 'MSE12' upon the credit card payment screen.

Will it be cheaper anywhere else?

I doubt it, I pushed it hard. There is a chance though its may be doing some codes in newspapers. If you spot a voucher code from anywhere else doing it cheaper, please report it in the thread (and i will make sure it is moved to this top note.

  • Have done this report but it doesn't take into account the fact that we have had an extension with a utility room and ensuite etc so I think has underpriced. Really interesting report but only useful if your house is standard to the ones around you.
  • Good morning: We have a Hometrack report courtesy of our listing with https://www.housenetwork.co.uk.... a large amount of detail but not relevant to our property as there is tremendous variation within our postcode...have found out more on https://www.nethouseprices.com and keeping an eye on local market.

  • I went to their site and went to buy a valuation, but their security certficate is Two months out of date, and therfore potentially this could now be a security risk, I advise all not to enter their credit card details until the purchase a new licence. Until they do you will not see the Padlock in internet explorer.
  • Hi, This isn't a means of getting a valuation but there's a new website, http://www.ourproperty.co.uk/, which gives the actual selling prices in your area. I guess they are linking to the land registry. You put in a postcode then search, after that you can refine or expand the results by increasing the date range and/or the distance surrounding that postcode. It certainly gives you an idea of what are the local prices. You do have to register but it's free and you get 20 more searches, every week.
It is also fun to see what your neighbours paid for their house :-)
There is also a sister website, http://www.petrolprices.com/, that does a similar sort of thing for fuel prices. Find the cheapest in your area.
No I am nothing to do with either website, just found them very useful. Hope you do too!
    Bye for now,

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I bought one of these for the house I am buying, but unfortunately it didn't tell me anything much. Maybe because the house I am buying has not had a lot of houses sold around it recently.

This website is extremely unsafe! Sorry Martin but a relative was well ripped off!
