Default barclays uk euro account?

Hello

I opened last week a euro account in barclays, now they send me the account number, but is only a 8 digit number without short code or similar.

How can i make transfers from others accounts and banks or business to that account in euros only with the 8 digit number? Doesnt use short code or similar?

sorry for my bad english, and ask this, but i cant call barclays at this moment due to other problems.

regards

As far as i can recall all barclays sort codes in euros are the same - i cannot recall the sort code of the top of my head - most banks will find this but it is unneceesary for inter bank transfers from other banks as the full bank address provides the same information. However, it can reduce your charges if you quote it to another bank - you would need to call and get it unless anyone else knows.

Any transfer in or out will be treated as an international transfer and charged as such.
They did explain that to you - yes?

No, they didnt explain to me anything like that, but if I made a transfer to that account, they dont need to charge anything, it is my money and it goes to the account.

In other side, the european tribunal, said like 2 months before that all the transfers between UE banks, must have the same commission, like 1€ or free because there are no currency change.

In other side thats not the problem, the problem is that i dont know how can i made a transfer to that account without the short code or similar.

Whopper you need to have a serious chat with Barclays about this account.
If you make a transfer to this account how will it be done? It can't be done over a bank counter as we deal in sterling, you can't do BACS as again it will only do sterling payments (in UK).

There may well be rules stating that IN THE EURO ZONE transfers across borders should be free or only pay a nominal fee but UK is not in Euro zone and therefore the rules do not apply.

I will give you an example - you have Euros in a HSBC account which you want to transfer to the Barclays one - the only way to do this is to complete an IMT form at HSBC to send to Barclays - result a charge of about £20.

Another example - you accept a cheque in Euros from any bank which you want to deposit into your Barclays a/c - they will charge you to either negotiate or collect the funds.

A third example - you want to cash some Euros from the Barclays a/c - you will probably find a fee of something like 1.5% + £10 or similar.
The same applies if you want to pay cash (Euros) into account.

You say that they don't charge because its your money - I say (and I base my examples on another bank I have experience with) that does not come into it.

You have a foreign currency account (do they charge an annual fee?) and will be charged accordingly.

I don't think you need a sort code and account number to put money in but you will need the IBAN and BIC.

ok you are right, i need swift and iban, but what the f*** is then euro notes?

On the good side i see only 6L of fee.

In that case, what bank can offer to me a euro account in the uk with online banking, debit card and automatic payments to revenue & customs for my money at the end of the year? And of course withdraw euros on physical bank.

Sorry fot this questions, can sound stupid but im planing my moves to uk for the next weeks to live there and i need to have a euro account because I travel a lot and my business are in euros.

thanks for all
