Posted this earlier but didn't get much response, so thought I'd just vent!
The AA took £42 from my account for break down recovery for a year, despite it saying in their terms and conditions that they will send a renewal document in advance so customer has chance to cancel, which I never received.
I complained, as I didn't want to renew at £42, and had I received this paperwork I would have cancelled immediately, and the guy said they sent the renewal document, therefore it's my fault I didn't get it, and to take it up with Royal Mail. They want to charge me £14 to cancel the membership!
It's not just the money, it's the fact they (2 phone calls - 2 separate people) were so darn rude on the phone, as if he was laughing in my face. So much for customer service these days!!
I then emailed to complain (didn't want to speak to another stupid rude person), and just got a useless reply saying "phone this number...." which is the same number I called before!
I would recommend NEVER to use the AA!

Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I agree with you on that, I broke down about 3 months ago and didnt have my membership number, when i rang in the advisor i spoke to refused to do an address search and said it wasnt compant policy. I explained that i had rung in previously and address searches had been done to confirm my details. I asked her to put me through to a manager and the call went quiet. after about 2 mins i said to my OH "stupid woman doesnt know what shes doing" then a voice came out of no where and said "im not having you speaking to me like that" and terminated the call!
Bearing in mind i was at the side of the motorway i rang straight back spoke to a lovely lady i explained i didnt have my membership no" no problem ill do an address search" was her response!!
I emailed them to complain and they offered me one month Gesture of good will0 -

Sorry to hear you have had problems with the AA, however I felt compelled to comment, as I cannot praise them highly enough.
I recently broke down 50 miles from home. My gear box had gone basically. They were out to me within 40 minutes as I was on my own. The problem couldn't be fixed so I had to upgrade my membership in order to qualify for being recovered home. The guy that came out to me was due to finish his shift and was in the process of calling somebody else out to recover me home, HOWEVER! there was a weirdo in the bus stop who kept coming out talking to me, and wouldn't leave me alone. I had a quiet word with the AA guy about what was I going to do when he went and left me until his colleague was able to come and recover me. As soon as he realised that this guy was in fact not with me at all but hassling me, he made a quick phone call and advised me that he would be taking me home after all and extending his shift as he said "I wouldn't leave you alone here with that guy".
I can't tell you how grateful I was to that guy, so would say AA had 10/10 for that days events.0 -
lol well at least someone has something positive to say about The AA!! I do hear the roadside assistants are alot nicer than the call centre staff in general though! I've never had to call them out (thankfully), which is why I object to having to pay £42 when I can get it cheaper elsewhere, with other companies who offer a discount to members who don't make claims!
I just don't understand why they bother putting such rude aggressive people on the phone lines!! Maybe I should just keep ringing back until I find someone who sounds human!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
