Hi everyone
I know a lot of people post what i'm about to say so sorry
Please help me though
I'm a young teenager. I'm 5 foot 7. I'm a size 12/14. I weigh 11 stone 6lbs.
I'm very overweight and I can't stand it. I look around at school and I just feel so out of place as everyone is so slender and have lovely figures.
I really want to lose weight Please recommend any ideas. I want to lose about 3/4lbs a week. My ideal weight would be around 8stone and I want to be a size 8. Please help as this is all I can think about at the moment and I can't concentrate on schoolwork(this is bad as I am one of the cleverest in my year so am expected to do well).
I want to do this by Christmas. I am dedicated to it. What is the fastest way to lose weight?
So please help
Any suggestions will be appreciated
Thanks for any future help

HI Sillysim, firstly you are only slightly overweight for your height. I have added the calculator below so you can see you only need to lose a couple of lbs to be in the 'ideal' weight category. You are certainly not very overweight and I do think 8 stone is far too low a weight to be if you a 5'7. I would have thought a sensible aim for what you look like and for health would be to aim to be be about 10 stone 7lbs.

This sounds more like a self esteem issue than a weight issue. Have you talked to your parents about how you are feeling? I think it is important if you haven't done this to have a chat to them.
If you want to go ahead and lose weight remember that the only way to lose weight and keep it off is by exercise and healthy eating aiming for 1-2lbs a week and no more. Whatever you do, do NOT go on a very low calorie diet as you could find yourself locked in a cycle of yo-yo dieting for years.

I would say it is more of a split personality issue!

It was a really good reply and someone else might read it and benefit from it!0 -
(devils advocate time...)
Is it possible that SS is posting (in a rather odd way admittedly) on behalf of the 12yo child?
The advice however remains the same, a slow weight loss is ideal - 1 to 2 lb a week eating healthy food. All the slimming clubs (SW and WW and probably RC too) would welcome a child into the group accompanied by a parent to aim to lose weight to a healthy BMI level.
I am 5'7'', and am attending classes to help me lose weight at the moment. My personal ideal weight (putting me at a BMI of 22.5) would be 10st 3lb.0 -

Come on SS, if you're there! What's going on? If the post about losing weight is genuine, there are people on here who do want to help.0 -

As for healthy eating certainly eating those foods our bodies evolved over 2 million years to deal with before the relatively recent commercialisation of food products leads to weight loss, greater activity and better health markers for heart health, brain health and diabetes. This is the way I eat now I don't call it a diet as it a permanent rather than a temporary changeMy weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

If this is genuine.......
I am 5'5", almost 11st, and size 14. I could do with losing about 7lb but I am a lot older than you and a bit extra weight comes with my age so I'm not stressed about it.
You are 5'7", 11st 6lbs, size 12/14, you want to lose weight. 3-4lbs a week is too much, 1-2lbs is the better way BUT
To be 8st and size 8 at 5'7" you will be like a stick bean, that is not slim, that is thin.
You are a young teenager. You have not yet finished growing. If you eat sensibly and healthily your body will grow as it should for you personally - we all are a certain body type and nothing you do will change that body type.
The way you are talking makes me think that you just want to follow the crowd, be fashionable, be like the size zeros that have recently been in the news. That is not healthy and if you start slimming seriously now you will more than likely end up having a weight problem for the rest of your life, yo-yo dieting or even end up anorexic.
Be sensible. Be yourself. Forget trying to be like anyone else. Follow a healthy way of eating. Forget dieting and concentrate on your schoolwork and be that special person that others look up to.0 -

my dd is nearly 14 and is 5 7 and she weighs 11 stone and is a size 12. she thinks that she is fat because she reads thise stupid magazines with nicole richie ect in them. She is constantly on a diet and wants to e a size 10 which i know would make her look gaunt. size 12 to 14 is NOT FAT it is a lovely size to be especially when you are young and need proteins ect to help build your body for later life. xx0
