Flights to N Zealand

I'm going to Auckland, N Zealand via Vancouver, in April/May time, I need to know the cheapest and shortest routes, I dislike flying.
Anyone help please?

Presumably you are going to have a stopover in Vancouver, as otherwise I can't imagine why you'd take that routing.

If you dislike flying then probably direct non-stop flights would be best with someone like Air Canada / BMI - either way it'll take 10 hours to Vancouver.

I don't think there are any direct flights from Vancouver to NZ so you'll have to change (probably Los Angeles) and expect flight times of 18 - 25 hours.

Frankly short of flying to east coast Canada and taking the train across Canada, then sailing to NZ you aren't going to avoid spending over a day in the air.

I went ANZ via LA and I think they go via Vancouver, but whichever way you go its a long flight if you don't like flying. ANZ must have been one of the cheapest for me to use them. You can expect long queues at LA immigration since 9/11.
    I'd try and avoid LA.

According to the Auckand Airport website Air Canada or ANZ don't fly to Auckland direct from London via Vancouver but they probably have a codehsare flight with another carrier, however as earlier posts suggest you will probable have to go via LA or SFO (ANZ fly via both). I'm sure you have a legitimate reason for going via Vancouver but this is not the best routing. ANZ don't fly from Vancouver to Auckland.

ANZ have a special of £579 return for April / May via los angeles with if you wish a stopover in LA. Could this be of any help and then take a cheapo to vancouver? (approx £180)

Just had a quote from OPODO for the route you wish and it comes out at £1150 with United Airlines and staying away from flying at weekends.

Have you looked at possibly finding the price for a Star Alliance round the world ticket? Routing would probably be London-Vancouver-LA or San Fran-Auckland-London? Might work out cheaper. Also it would be a fairly flexiable ticket (could change dates) and you would be able to collect quite a few frequent flyer miles (join up with BMI via their credit card and you get 20,000 free miles).

  • Thanks for all suggestions, i should have said that i have relations in Vancouver thought to make a break in long flights by stopping off to see them first. i will probably end up going via LA seems to be the most popular route.
