Internet Buying Panic

After placing a £600+ order at www.simplyelectronics.net.

I purchased in the heat of the moment without doing my homework first. However due to a lack of update of my order I decieded to phone them...or not. All there numbers today are out of order.

I purchased via VISA over the phone and after reading around the internet some people have had some real trouble with them. Id like just to get out and get my money back from them and I am curious what rights do I have right now?

The money has come off my card from Hong Kong and no despatch email of anykind has been sent.

Thank you.
Pete

In future, why not buy from a UK company. Much less risky and also helps to keep a few more Brits in jobs.

Try and contact them via e-mail or phone. If you have no success then initiate a refund under S75 (for credit card) or chargeback (for debit card)

    I thought they were.

Only thing that mentions Hong Kong is the T&C's. Contact is in Isle of Wight, and About mentions Europe.
  • If you are unable to get in touch with them at all I would most definitely contact your card issuer and explain your concerns, and your annoyance that you cannot speak to this company.
I'm not sure if the seven day distance selling regulations apply to them. I would doubt it as they are overseas but you might want to clarify that with a call to Trading Standards.

    Doh!
  • I don't think the credit card company will do anything until a reasonable time limit has elapsed (28 days?) to give them time to deliver the goods.
Only after this time will they start the chargeback process although it is not clear from OP's post whether he used a credit or debit card.
