Is it normal to drop from a 4mb connection wired to 3mb wireless? It seems a big loss considering I am only 6ft away in a direct line from the router. Is this normal?
Can anyone help please?
Thanks in advance

Wireless is generally slower than wired, I am not entirely sure about where you got your numbers from though?
If your access point is 802.11x compliant and you have a wireless card running 802.11b then your whole wireless network will run at the speed of the slowest device. Also security features can slow down your wireless speed, e.g. if you have both WEP and WPA switched.
This article is a little out of date but will give you more of an idea. http://www.lordpercy.com/wifi_explained.htm2 heads are better than 1….unless they are on the same body!0 -
Depends what speed your wireless is connected at.
Because wireless sends an acknowledgement (ACK) for each packet effectively half the theoretical bandwidth is lost e.g. 11Mb/s only effectively 5.5Mb/s. Then there's packet loss, retransmission etc...Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:
