I'll try Cut it short.
Mum had phoned Weatherseal and asked if someone could give a quote (which i knew nothing about).
A young guy turned up last night, now what i must state, my parents are very vulnerable, dad is 73 had 2 strokes, only has 30% vision left and cannot talk very good.
Mum is 69 and has bad health too.
The guy had turned up last night and sat for ages talking about his drinking habits and that he was a recovering alcoholic, giving all the crap a sales rep does (pressure sales), he went and took the measurements came back and carried on his crap talk.
For a basic upc window (quite small) he said, Mr & Mrs ****, it will cost you £3000, but lets see what discount i can give you, he said i can do all this fitted for £2405.
Poor mum agreed and next thing she was signed on the dotted marked line and gave him a £200 deposit.
He said a fitter would Turn up today between 2 and 4pm to get the exact measurements (as the rep from last night just took an estimate measure) but this fitter didn't turn up.
I had went over today and found out that the rep had called last night and that everything was on order, i picked up the contract and was shocked at the price knowing dam well she could have got it a lot cheaper.
I then phoned up weatherseal gave him the order number and he said he would cancel it and claims dept would refund my parents.
A short time later the phones rings again, i'm sorry, but because your parents contacted us for the quotation, we cannot cancel the sale, he told me to look at the (smallest ever) blue print page section 17.
I have brought it back with me and it does state........
This contract may be cancelled by either party within 7 days of signing the contract. The exception to this being, when you the customer, have directly approached Weatherseal Holdings LTD requesting the visit. This right can be excercised by sending or taking a written notice to Weatherseal............................ within the period of seven days following the making of the agreement.
He said on the phone that even if she cancelled the window at this stage, she would still have to pay the full amount on the contract (£2405)
When my mum phoned Weatherseal to arrange a quote, this was not stated to her ( clause 17 of the T&C's)
Also the Rep who quickly got them signed up did not tell them any of the T&C's.
Any help on this?
Is it a case of just let them get on and do the job or should i pursue this further?

Thanx in advance.

Your parents did not have capacity to contract due to their infirmity and the distress caused by the pressure selling. Point this out to Weatherseal. Do not let them fix the window. Do not pay them any more money. Deal with them only in writing.
Tomorrow, or as soon as possible, contact CAB or Consumer Direct for some proper professional advice.
Two Weatherseal reps being naughty in three days on this forum - they're going to get themselves a reputation.0 -
Phoned Trading Standars and told them the situation.
They said that because she has signed and is paying by cash they cannot do anything about it.
He said the only thing i can do is write them a letter, send it via recorded delivery and hope they will cancel it.
But yesterday on the phone (Weatherseal) he did state it was to late to cancel!!
This is crap, because the fitter hasn't been to measure so the product hasn't been made yet!!!But first, the most asked question:

Join Which Legal. They have an offer on at the moment where you can get 6 months of legal advice for £12.75 (I think). They are experts on the law. I have been member for years and have used them loads with great success. They quote the law to you and tell you where you stand. You just call Which and subscribe to the service paying over the phone and you can get advice immediately.
