I used to do this - although nerver had 40 quids worth! - but my Tesco now only take a voucher if you've actually bought the product.

Yep I have done this before. Just handed over a wad of vouchers and said 'not sure what you can take' and had them all accepted. Then at other times only had a few accepted. Not something to do often or Tesco might clamp down.

Usually the men are more easy going at taking coupons than the women for some reason.

  • I got started using coupons many years ago after standing behind someone who paid for 2 full trolley loads of shopping with £1 coupons

    TOTAL .......£600.00

Poor girl serving her nearly fell off her seat .... but they took EVERYONE !
  • Well, I've just read this (below) on 'online marketing blog' by Stephen Pratley, posted 23 August 07.

"Did you know that if you take any NCH coupon (the sort you usually find on the side of tins of beans or in local newspapers) that Tesco will accept these regardless of whether you bought the product or not?
Tesco gets paid for these, by the supplier, via the NCH so it really doesn’t give a damn. "

I suppose the only thing is to make sure the store you visit actually stocks what you have on your coupons. If they get paid regardless, why should they worry?
  • Thanks to the magazine coupon thread and the daily newspaper thread I use money off coupons all the time and average about £60.00 a week off my shopping bill. My stores are strict with the amount of coupons you can use so I always make sure I collect the high value ones i.e., £1+.
  • Being new to this coupon thing, can i ask when you hand over your wad of coupons? lol at the end of the shop would be best i'm guessing as they wouldn't notice what you have/havn't bought? Also where do you find the money off coupons to? i don't buy papers or mags but can you find them elsewhere, sorry to hijack thread :o thanks

Tesco's policy IS to accept any amount of Manufacturers money off coupons providing they are in date and tesco stock the product. If you use more than one of each coupon then you should purchase the item, otherwise you can pay for ALL of your shop using one of each different coupon. There is a discussion about this on PTS (paid to shop) and a store manager has also confirmed this policy to me.

Do they take the coupons that you can print off coupnet.com?
  • SA vary to what coupons they take. some say up to 50% of shop one of each unless you buy the product. I generally use around 50% and normally go for the younger SA's. I definately avoid older SA's in the mornings - sometimes no amount of charm can persuade them. I also never use my clubcard, pay cash and never use the self scans as you only get the embarrasing bleep.
