Is RyanAir getting wise to us?

I've just had a look at the Ryanair website and seen this statement:
"As a special offer to Visa Electron card holders, Ryanair, for a limited period only, will not apply a Debit Card charge."
I've never noticed it before, I wonder if it's something new and RyanAir are considering ending the free payment by Visa Electron - or has it always said that.

I've never noticed it before. I thought that by law, they had to offer a free method of payment. I could be wrong though....Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

They're probably frantically searching for the most obscure card in existence.
Anyone have a debit card for the Bank of Zimbabwe? :rotfl:0 -
They have that, it is the Electron Card
Nah! Too many of us have one of those now - they're common as muck to us MSE-ers.0 -
The new wording seems to have been there since they raised debit card fees a few weeks ago. Looks like they are covering themselves in the hope that they can find a way to charge a fee for all card types.
Maybe they'll go for the Japan Credit Bureau card - already accepted by quite a lot of retailers in the UK, but AFAIK not issued anywhere in Europe.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Until then they will have to keep the Electron card free otherwise their headline prices will have to go up0 -

Thinking logically, you would think the advantage would be if you paid with a Ryanair credit card, maybe not free but at a reduced fee to other cards. They must get a cut from this over say someone using a Barclaycard etc.
