Good find rizla, BUT in case any one reads this and thinks that this is a DIVX Recorder - it is not. DivX Player and does not record in DivX. It does record, but not as DivX files, it just plays DivX files. It's not a great price, but is reasonable. Has any seen a DivX recorder yet?0

Thats quite a price drop, I think it was about £115. The older 5006 model has now strangely gone up in price on Amazon to £87.69.0

Unfortunately with this model you cannot disable macrovision hence you are unable to transfer your old VHS tapes to DVD format with this recorder.0

Just a small clarification for people who aren't technically minded. You can transfer your old VHS tapes to DVD format with this recorder. You just can't transfer macrovision protected originals.0 -
Selling for £120 in Argos, so the Amazon price must be a bargain.

& when it finally goes faulty, it'll double up as a garage that you can park your car in.0

I remember using DivX a few years back before DVD writers were affordable. It meant you could get a film onto a CD. What are the benefits of it now? Is it just for downloads? Can I help?0

You can now get a load of films on a DVD-R
For films acquired less legally, it saves encoding to DVD......... :shhh:0 -
This DVD Recorder is not multi-region by default. To make it region-free, follow these simple instructions: Switch on player without disc in tray / Press setup / Highlight exit then press 2,9,6,0 / Press right and press enter on "region 2" / Press right arrow again and select "0" for region free / Exit menuHappiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

You say not a great price can you expand on that, as I am looking for a recorder that will do dvd - and + and will play divx so this seems pefect unless you know of one at a better price0
