Is there anywhere similar to centre parks?

Options
Please could anyone help me. We wanted to go to centre parks for a midweek break next May but there are 9 of us (2 families). Centre parks only sleep up to 8 and say that we cannot bring an airbed/ mattress for the youngest child and we must book two units pushing the cost up and making it hard to socalise.
Does anyone know of a similar type of park where we could all go please?

    Hello Jenny Wren

I think you'll have more success with this thread in the 'Travel, Trips & Holiday' board........so I'll move it across.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

  • Do you mind travelling to Belgium?

There are 4 SUNPARKS in Belgium which are more or less the same as Center parcs with big leisure pools, spas, cycle tracks, children's playgrounds.

I know the Sunpark we went to last year does holiday homes for 12, 16 and 20 so your party should fit in to something there.

They have some great special offers - if you book a week break, they even give you a folding bike. Often the UK school holidays do not co-incide with the Belgian holiday times so you can get decent prices during times like May half term holidays.

    Here's a link

PS I think if one of your party is very young, you may be allowed to book an 8 person home and have an extra one in a cot (they are free)
  • We have also been to Sunparks in Belgium and can highly recommend it. Even with the cost of the crossing it still usually works out cheaper than a similar trip in the UK, plus you can stock up in the French hypermarkets on the way back! It's also true that their school holidays differ from ours so they are often less busy (and cheaper again). A tip though - don't try to speak to the Belgians in French, as I did because I don't speak Flemish! They prefer English to French!
  • Thanks guys. We have given in on our original idea and have booked a cottage in Cornwall instead that sleeps 10. We will have to paddle in the sea instead of swimming in a heated pool, oh well, we may find a leisure centre!!!

Sadly (or not) the youngest is 6 so too big for a cot!

I know this is a bit cheeky but is there any way centerparcs would really find out that there were 9 instead of 8 in a villa? They only service the standard villas on a changeover day so how would anyone really know?

We were in a similar situation - we wanted 3 families (2 adults + baby each) but centre parcs said no to 9 in a villa. They said it was due to Health and Safety and Insurance reasons. In the small print it says that if you are caught with more members in the villa then they will charge you the full price for another villa.

Also you would need to smuggle the 9th member of the party into centreparcs in the first place as you have to give full details of the whole party.

We decided not to take the risk, but I am sure people do...
