Has anyone used these, and if so what for? DH - the old romantic - brought me a packet back from Sainsbury as a pressie! The only thing I can think of is to add them to bulk out a stew. However, I know you creative lot will no doubt have much better suggestions. [I'm hoping they weren't an early Valentine's present:mad: .]

They are flippin expensive so that's why he bought them as a pressie! we just had them as a veg but were underwhelmed I'm afraid - they are supposed to be good for cholesterol I think.
The flavour is - (sorry) - like any kind of bean that you've ever tasted before, they were a little tough too unless I didn't cook them for long enough maybe0 -
I saw the advert on television and was hoping somebody would say what they were like. Do they taste like anything else (just to give me some idea)?0

I think you serve them like peas or broad beans. They are picked fresh aren't they? So not the same as dried soya beans. I think they're also called endamame0

I have a bag in the freezer. I just serve them like peas, boiled for a few minutes and put on the plate. TBH I really like them, kind of creamy and nutty. But I love most beans anyway!
I was thinking of cooking some and blending with mint to make a sort of veggie pate.0 -
I bought some to experiment with, had them at a friends house mixed with peas as a side and quite liked the taste. Any other ideas gratefully received x0

does anyone know if they're GM free? I couldn't see anything on the packet when I had a quick look which makes me suspicious.0

Justie, Bird's Eye say they are GM free - Rach helpfully gave a link above and the info is under FAQ.0

Soya (edamame) beans are lovely just boiled/steamed with a drizzle of sesame oil, and a touch of soy sauce. You can also put them in stirfries, and there are some interesting recipes here: http://agsyst.wsu.edu/sweetbeans.htm
I like to get the edamame which are still in their shells (like peas in the pod) - boil them and sprinkle with salt for a delicious cocktail nibble, the traditional Japanese way!2015 comp wins - £370.25

Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
Hi Liz545,
Can I just ask, where do yuo get the edamame that are still in their pods? I always order them when we go out for sushi and would love to have them at home!
Thanks0
