Electric ToothBrushes/ Oral Hygiene

Options
I've heard that electric toothbushes are supposed to be good and that they are not so expensive.

May have got this from around here.

Looked in the supermarkets and local chemists.
What do I find?
Minimum prices are £10.99.

Surely there must be places selling electric toothbrushes for £3.99 or less.

I am after two brushes on a stick of medium feld.

I have never used an electric toothbrush before.

l always thought all the stuff about electric toothbrushes was just hype but in MHO you just cant beat them. l have always used the Braun ones and although the brushheads seems quite dear they last longer than a normal toothbrush and Boots usually have some goods deals on them from time to time. Dont bother buying a really cheap one, l have found the £15 ish pound ones really good and have one between the five of us so you really dont need to buy 2. Stick to a well known make whatever you choose. You will never go back !!!!!!:D

We have found that the Braun ones don't last very long (usually pack up just after the one year warranty runs out). I use a Colgate electric toothbrush. Don't know if they are recommended. My dentist told me he doesn't usually recommend them, but in my case he thought it would be worth my trying one.

How many have you bought? I'm on my third and they last years .... It's just that I keep getting suckered into upgrading to the latest model! I have one that must be five years old and it's still going.

If you just bought the one, then maybe you were unlucky and had the "Friday" toothbrush

We have probably just been unlucky then - my husband had about 3 and maximum any one of them lasted was about 18 months.

What does MHO and IMHO stand for?
My honest opinion & in my honest opinion?

    £15.00 for electric toothbrushes?
Compare that to £0.42 value twin pack Tesco value toothbrushes

    That's disappointing.
I absolutely do not want to buy c**p, but I am pretty happy with my conventional toothbrush and Arm & Hammer baking soda toothpaste.

Like I said medium texture was what I was chasing.

Think I will have to wait til Xmas for the sales.

You get one toothbrush with several colour coded heads, so all the family use the same power unit. My dentist said they were very good for getting to the back teeth as the heads are so small.
We've had the Braun ones for donkeys years (well, about 6 or 7 years anyway) and I think they cost around £20 at the time. There are almost always offers on in Boots as they sell off the older models.
Think how many ordinary toothbrushes you will have bought in that time and the price doesn't seem so bad.
One of our better purchases I think ;)

If you have a Tchibo near you, watch out for their sonic TB. You get four spare heads and all for £19.99. Brilliant. Or you could check online https://www.tchibo.co.uk (I think) and keep an eye out for when it next comes on sale.

  • I've been using an electric toothbrush for years, I have perfect teeth and am very fussy about oral hygene. I have in the last few years suffered from gum disease and I was told the best brush to get for this is a sonicare. I bought one and was amazed at how much better it was straight off. The heads are very expensive and I brush too hard so go through them quickly, have found the cheapest source to be Amazon.

I use the cheapie battery ones like the colgate ones they cost about £5 and the replacement heads are about £3 ish in wilkinsons. They do last a long time.

And I have found since using them my Dentist no longer hooks about for england in my mouth making me bleed like a stuck pig. And my dentist seems happy with what I am doing.

The last I bought was on offer at wilkinsons and was a wisdom one. I am sure it does not have the same power as the colgate one. But it will have to last until I have used up the spare heads. I think the base and one brush cost about £3 and the spare brushes for two was £1.99.

But I still buy ordinary toothbrushes as I have to clean my teeth properly. I do all the backs and awkard places with the battery tooth bursh and then use the ordinary one to clean the flat surfaces like the fronts. As I like to have clean teeth. And then of course I Floss.
