Sky Talk Increase Prices From 2/10/2009. Chance to get out of your Sky Talk Contract.

Sky have put their line rental up from 1/9/2009 to £11 a month.
They are making further increases in prices as follows from 2/10/2009. As a result of the 2/10/2009 price increases you can get out of your contract if you so desire.

Connection Fee
Evening and weekend calls to UK landline numbers starting with 01, 02, 03 and 0870* are free with no connection fee. The connection fee for all other calls will increase from 8p to 9p, unless a separate connection fee or minimum fee is specified. Calls which currently incur a minimum call charge of 5.5p (including calls to most Personal numbers services, Paging, Fixed to WiFi, Satellite and Directory Enquiry numbers) will change to be charged at the applicable call rates plus a 9p connection fee.
UK landline rates (Sky Talk Freetime only)
The rate for daytime weekday calls to UK landline numbers starting with 01, 02, 03 & 0870* numbers will increase from 4.5p per minute to 5.25p per minute plus a 9p connection fee
Sky Talk Unlimited includes unlimited calls to UK landlines at any time.
Mobile call rates
Sky Talk Freetime call rates to UK mobiles will increase from 11.622p per minute to 12.234p per minute during the daytime, and during the evening from 6.973p per minute to 7.340p per minute. Our new rates will match BT's current call rates to UK Mobiles on their Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan.
Sky Talk Unlimited customers save 20% on call rates to UK Mobiles compared to Sky Talk Freetime.
International call rates
These will increase on 2 October and will match BT's current international call rates on their Unlimited calling plans. Details of all our Sky Talk call rates to international numbers can be found in the tariff guide above.
Sky Talk Unlimited includes unlimited calls to 20 popular international destinations: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and USA (also includes calls to mobiles in Canada and USA)
Calls to the Channel Islands
Calls to the Channel Islands are charged at separate rates to the UK. The rate for daytime weekday calls to the Channel Islands will increase from 3.25p per minute to 5.25p per minute. The rate for evening weekday calls will increase from 1p per minute to 1.45p per minute and at weekends the rate will remain 1p per minute. A 9p connection fee applies to all calls.
Call rounding
We are simplifying the way we round the duration of your calls. The duration of all call types will be rounded up to the next whole minute. Each call charge will be rounded up to the next penny with the exception of calls to fixed fee only numbers (including fixed fee only Directory Enquiry numbers).
Call Features with Sky Talk Line Rental
The monthly charge for Call Diversion, Call Waiting, Reminder Call, Ring Back and Three-way Calling is increasing to £2.50 per month. The pay per use prices of five of our call feature services will also increase.
• 1471 - Return call service (dialling 1471 then press 3 to return the call) will change from 10p to 12p per use
• 1571 - Return call service (dialling 1571 then press 0 to return the call) will change from 9.7p to 12p per use
• Ring Back service will change from 30p to 35p per use
• Reminder call service will change from 30p to 35p per use
• Three-way Calling service will change from 60p to 65p per use
If you currently subscribe to any of these features on a monthly basis, then the pay per use prices above will not affect you.
Free/inclusive calls last up to an hour, after which 5.25p per minute rates apply for UK landline calls (including 0870* numbers), and standard Sky Talk international rates apply to international calls, or you can hang up and redial as often as you like. Subject to Acceptable Use Policy.
If you are not happy with the changes set out above, you may cancel Sky Talk without charge. Further details on how to do this are set out in your Sky Talk terms and conditions.
* Excludes indirect access and dial-up Internet access numbers. Max price for 08 numbers is 10ppm, with a max connection fee of 10p. Max price for 070 is 48ppm, with a max connection fee of 50p."

Correct?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
