Keep rinsing with clear water and antiseptic (like dettol) this should help remove the smell.
  • I swear by bicarb for absorbing smells.I've had best results by sprinkling it on the offending area when the smell is quite fresh IYSWIM.I'm not sure whether it work after things have been washed.I think what I'd do is dampen the rugs, sofa etc then sprinkle on bicarb, leave for as long as poss-couple of hours at least, then hoover it up.HTH

wide bowl of white vinegar solution is good for absorbing pongs.
we use this when the cats have leaked.

When this happened to me I tried everything to get rid of the offending pong.

The only thing that shifted it was a steam cleaner. We steamed the area and it got rid of the smell straight away....worked for a milk spillage on the carpet too:D

They can be expensive to buy but I think you can hire them out quite cheaply...
  • I know just how you feel, my son returned from a holiday with his dad and seems to have picked up some kind of bug.....we've had too many bodily fluids going round.......the bicarb seems to work best I've just cleaned everywhere and 'hopefully' it smells OK. I say hopefully because I'm beginning to become immune to the smells!

    my house smells too :j
  • I think it's it's possible to use wallpaper steamer (cost about £20 from B&Q ) as a steam cleaner. Not tried it yet, but got plenty of yucky stains on the carpet to test it with .

Partner's idea of cleaning the carpet was to drizzle vanish gel around and leave it. Now there's dirty drizzle stains all over the dining room carpet.
