upgrading Shower

Options
My old shower has got worse recently, and I bought a new one.
A couple of questionsabout installation:
1) the new shower needs a thicker cable, so can I run another length of the same rated cable in parallel with the original?
Instead of just using one thick cable?

2)If the low pressure indicator on the new shower comes on, and water won't heat up,how do I know if the supply is from a gravity fed tank, or if I need to connect to the main supply instead?

    thanks for the reply
I assume that a booster pump is expensive and difficult to fit
I am just trying to keep clean until I move house.
the old shower runs cold very quickly, it has only been happening in the last 3 months(summer I guess).
there wouldn't be anything to clean out the lime or whatever is blocking it up would there?
I seem to recall "disabling" the low pressure switch when I installed the old shower, if that helps.
and this is my 100th post!

1)Thick cable. Isolator switch in consumer unit probably needs to be replaced too.

2)Electric shower needs mains water supply. There are power showers with integrated pump for low pressure supply.

I suppose that living in the fens(10m above sea level) doesn't help
