Sat at home yesterday and a S&S "area manager" knocked on my door. Said he was following up their letter I had received. I had had nothing of the sort. Apparently their "readings from your meter" had flagged me up as being eligible for their best rates! I'm not with them and have not made any contact with them!
"It will only take 2 mins to fill in the form sir and we are by far the cheapest in the country" Whoa there, how much have your prices gone up?
"Only 5% for both gas and electric sir"
I so wanted to REALLY tell him where to go but instead politely told him to go.
I have his name and mobile number and am considering dropping this lying toe rag right in it. I can imagine him pressurising susceptible people without any guilt at all.

Absolutely raise a complaint against him. This really annoys me cos he'll only do it to an elderly couple that don't know what they're doing and they'll be singed up in a jiffy.
These sales agents need telling that they can't just pressurise and mis-sell people into these types of contracts.Dannii_B

We had a similar experience to this recently where someone from SSE turned up at our door saying that they had had complaints in the area from customers who weren't on the right tariff and wanted to know if we were one of them - we aren't a customer of theirs at all so you know its just a ruse to drum up business.
Absolutely refuse to discuss this at the door or on the phone and our latest policy with any type of cold caller is to say that one of us works for whatever the company is so we get employee discount. That seems to stop them in their tracks.MFW Challenge (Tgt Date Nov 07): ACHIEVED FEB 07!

SSE are notorious for this. I listen politely, then say, 'No, that's complete BS and dishonest of you.' I report them to the company, too. It's one reason why I'm switching away from SSE.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
