Lemon juice, or baking powder made into a paste with water, are the two I've seen recommended.0

Whatever else you try, don't use chlorine bleach, it sets the stain forever!!
I think lemon juice and salt are the best homemade removers, but I have resorted to commercial ones with some success. If you want/need to you can try an oxygen bleach. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Just wanted to say a quick thankyou for this great tip. I was just about to put bleach on a pair of dd's white linen trousers and jacket that i was horrified to find rust stains on from a radiator. Thought I would check on here first, thank goodness I did. Used the lemon and salt and marks have faded quite a bit

Glad to have been of help. Now I on the other hand discovered about chlorine bleach, after I'd used it!!!! Many years ago now, but that's one you don't forget. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Hi, just a quick question, does anyone know how (if you can) to get rust out of a t-shirt - it's grey if that makes a difference with a picture on it. It's dd1's favourite and it blew off the line onto a rusty pole in recent bad weather and I had not noticed until the next day.
I have a feeling this will be one of those stains that are permanent but thought it was worth an ask - many thanks for reading!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Hi Angelpye:hello:
this thread suggests lemon juice or a paste made with bicarb (but don't use bleach)
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the ideas together. Good luck and let us know if it works!
Zip:)A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hello. I wonder if someone can help me. Got out my summer linen white trousers yesterday and noticed there is a brown stain on them which almost looks like the colour of rust. There is a little metal belt on them which has a tiny tiny bit of rust around the metal but it looks like it may have transferred onto the trousers. I washed them last night and used vanish but it is still on there ...
Does anyone have any ideas ... I've had them for about 10 years so they lasted well but apart from the stain (which is noticeable) there is nothing wrong with them... I really don't want to throw them away...
Any ideas gratetfully received ...
