www.roomauction.com is a new uk based hotel room auction site , which unlike PL you do not have to pay for the room up-front , you pick the hotel and dates you would like to stay and then simply e-mail them your offer.( you should hear back from them within 3-4 hours)
Once on the site you can see photo's and desriptions of the hotels.
As a guide , the site suggests bids of 30-40% off the normal rates but they may accept lower offers on quieter nights .
A couple of tips
1) book late. the closer you get to arrival date, the more seriously your bid will be taken, and the more desperate they will be to fill the room
2)don't bid too low
3)remember to check prices elsewhere such as www.laterooms.com or www.wotif.com
4) when you make your offer , they will ask if you are going to dine at the hotel - say yes and your bid is more likely to succeed

very nice find
another good auction site http://www.thistleauctions.com/ but same rules check other sites tooIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
some hotels also give their bidding tips disclosing when they are less busy - see just above the rates and bidding form.
thats for the https://www.roomauction.com site, I have not used the thistle one. Also at the room auction you have over a 100 hotels not only from thistle group...0
