What do people think of Primus

Options
My parents are on BT option 2. They have been contacted by Primus offering a cheaper deal. If they switch to Primus will they still be able to use an override provider. Also you don't get caller display for free.

What do you think should they change?

1 .are they on a 12 month rolling contract with BT
    2. are they being asked to move there line rental to primus .
    3. at the moment primus dont block override numbers but they can if you pay them your line rental .

if they are not under contract to BT they can move the calls to primus and still pay BT line rental

Are you saying that folks under contract to BT cannot move calls to Primus CPS?

No, he's asking whether they are in such a contract because, if they are, breaching it would involve the payment of penalty charges.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. • Sadly they are on a Rolling Contract. BT have made a good trap for people. I suppose if you end the contract you have to A pay a Penalty or B pay the Week end and evening fee for a Year. Not such a good deal.

Whats the advantage of moving anyway?

Primus Line Rental, plus caller display, and inclusive evening and weekend calls £11.55.(12 month contract)

Same deal with BT (Online billing ) £11.25p a month and your guaranted you can use the likes of 18185/1899. (12 month rolling contract which you can leave after 12 months).

The above link is for a thread in the internet section, but page 20 to 25 will give you an idea about Primus billing, for customers that were taking line rental etc, rather than just the free evening and weekend CPS service.

Not sure how bad their billing is now, but it was months behind when i was a customer, and there is no "real time" billing, so you can't check what calls you have made that month until Primus issues the bill, so unlike BT, that you can get your calls up till 10pm usually the day (s) before, with Primus there is no way of knowing what the cost of your calls for the month is (to the likes of 0845, mobiles etc) above your package, until your billing date arrives.

The overseas call centre is a nightmare as well, something that i would from experience, avoid at all costs.

I started out ok with Primus, if you search for Primus on MSE forums, or look at the link i give, from the start, you will see that the service and the quality of the service did go downhill, and even though a lot of the comments are about broadband, there are a lot of other comments, about the overall quality of service from Primus as well.

Hope that helps you in someway.

Still with 'em (was one of those lucky enough to get onto Penny Mobile 2 CPS) but have never considered their line rental or broadband.

Their invoicing has gone to pot over the past 18 months or so - I used to receive a monthly email which detailed calls for the previous month (i.e. charging was always a month behind) but it's now further behind than that (I now owe for calls made after 15th May). OTOH, that's no worse than quarterly billing with BT.
