Has anybody else had any experience of this site at all? I came across it when I was looking for a couple of nights stay in London for myself and daughter next month. Using the "name your own price " section I put in £45 per night for 4 star accommodation and it came back with Novotel Euston. So for 2 nights stay in a 4 star in central London its going to cost £110 including Priceline's admin fee.
I think this is such a bargain, but at the back of my mind I cant help feeling that this cant be right. Having said that though, I am one of life sceptics.

I would be most grateful for any thoughts on this to put my mind at ease.

Yep, used it quite a few times.

Its owned by priceline.com (which I've also used). Have bagged some real bargains using the site.

Have a look at the following forums for more info about Priceline:

www.biddingfortravel.com (note this is a US only forum, but has lots of useful info about Priceline).

yes have used priceline a couple of times now myself and have found them to be fine ......... if you can get a hotel/area that suits you.

there are many many people on these boards who use priceline frequently and there are other sites such as biddingfortravel which are dedicated to giving you the best strategy for booking rooms through priceline.
the first time i was a bit daunted by having to use a strategy to get a hotel room .......... but with a bit of help from another board member , i booked a great hotel for a great price and so have used them both successfully and unsuccessfully a couple of times since.

Thanks so much folks. I feel much better now and can look forward to my trip with confidence.
  • I've bagged a few pricleine bargains - love the site for those weekends away when you want a touch of class at B&B prices.
  • I agree with all the positive comments above. I've used .co.uk and .com version on numerous occasions and have always been pleased with the price paid for the quality of hotel I have received.

Careful research at the above mentioned sites (https://www.betterbidding.com and https://www.biddingfortravel.com) mean you should never be in for any nasty surprises with Priceline bidding.

I'm probably positive as my latest Priceline success was only last night!

Have used it for a few years now and have posted some answers on MSE as to how to use.

I have had some great bargains (£22 per room, 3* in New York!) in some great hotels.

You do need to research what to bid and what to expect and personnally I support betterbidding as the moderator is a good guy!

Have to admit though that (only because it's been around longer) biddingfortravel has a bigger database of hotels and prices.

Did you post your winning bid on Betterbidding to help others?

I'm staying at the Novotel Euston for one night next month on a PL bid

    £34.00 :j

Hope you have a good stay.

Blimey, and I thought my deal was cheap! Have you stayed there before? Whats it like?
  • I'm a total sucker for city break weekends and use Priceline whenever possible. I've had some stonking bargains through them and, like previous posters, use the two bidding strategy forums for research before actually bidding. There is a UK based forum at https://www.cleverbidding.co.uk but it seems to be pretty stale these days with new postings something of a rarity.

I haven't stayed there but this report is from a PL bidder who recently stayed.

I got the low price by doing research as previously mentioned. This hotel had been going at an amzing £30 per night.

Once you add the fees and taxes my price comes to nearer £50 per night total.
