You should open a basic bank account.
Prepaid cards have high fees and charges on withdraws.DELETE ACCOUNT.

But, you can't use a basic account for payment everywhere out and about, you can't use it for web transactions or unattended late night fuel pumps!
Or am I missing something?
You can open a Natwest Step Account which is a basic bank account with a solo debit card or you can go to TSB and open a basic account with a Visa debit card which can be used in most of the places you mention.
Hope this helpsDELETE ACCOUNT.
