Hi, i have a cash plus gold pre paid card. i love it. it does everything you need. has chip and pin and alsp purchase protection. i know some people dont like pre paid cards but i am saving a fortune now as i dont pay late payment or over limit fees or interest anymore. i used to pay a fortune to my credit cards as i did not pay them off in full at the end of the month. so the amount i load my pre paid card is all mine. and not chewed up by fees etc. hope this helps. if you do a google search you will find a number of cards. there is also a website. i think its called which prepaid card where you can compare all the cards out there. xxxxxxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was looking at the charges for that Lastminute card, which I have.
It is 2.75% per transaction, and 2.75% foreign currency.
Maestro transactions are exempt, I think, but the foreign exchange rate they use may be to their advantage.
I have emailed the above questions to them before I load up the card.0 -
Lastminutes T & C's are contradictorary... In the T & C's it says that loading the card is free but in the FAQ it says that a 3% fee will apply. I sent them this email but have had no reply as yet.
Hi
I am interested in purchasing a lastminute travel cash card however I would like a point clarified. In the terms and conditions it states:
"When your Prepaid Card is topped up, a load fee applies as set out in this table:
Size of load - Any Load Amount
Internet & PayPoint Loading Fee - FREE"
However in the ‘FAQ’ it states:
‘If you top-up online or by PayPoint you will be charged 3% of the top-up amount.’
As far as I can ascertain the only way to top up is indeed online or via a paypoint in person which would mean that it is not free as suggested in the terrms and conditions! Please can you confirm which statement is correct.

So far i have only been charged 20p per transaction, and NO fees to top up, and also no fees when money refunded to the card0 -
Got this reply from lastminute....
Thank you for your E-mail.
There are actually no fees associated with loading your card by the Internet or by Paypoint.
Thank you for bringing this administration error to our attention, the FAQ section has now been amended.
Kind Regards0 -
OK, well they haven't replied to my email so far.
I decided to load the card with £300 and check transactions later to ascertain fees and if this card is worth having.
This is because it cost me £6.99 to acquire the card and I want a return on that.
It should be useful for the hotel, ski hire and ski passes, because we often burn cash on those which is silly because foreign cash has fees asssociated with it. So the preferred method is Maestro with this card and no charge.
This is my thinking and it will pay if the fees are indeed absent on Maestro.0 -

touch wood not had any problems with mine. Going abroad shortly so will be interested to see how it works out there. I have to say its lovely not getting a shocking credit card bill every month now, I went through some old bills today and on quite a few there was £20 LATE PAYMENT + £20 OVERLIMIT + PPI + INTEREST. Scary. Even though it was sometimes my own fault for paying one or two days late then sure enough that took me overlimit with charges etc. At least my average sixty pounds a month is a huge saving and am loading my card up with that amount every month now. And its all mine. How bloomin good is that. Am finding it a really great way to save some money xxxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've put some cash on mine but haven't needed to use it yet ... I've also set up a Standing Order so that when I get paid, I transfer cash straight to my card ... although I have noticed it takes longer to reach my card then traditional BACS payments normally do ...:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove
