Premier Inn - booking one night.

If, like me, you have a family of 4 and want an occasional hotel stay for visiting relatives etc, you may like Premier Inns for the large rooms, consistent quality, guarantee of a bath, not just a shower, and reasonably good value.

Recently, I've tried a couple of times to book for 1 night (a Saturday) to be told "we're fully booked". But miraculously, when I said I wanted to stay on the Sunday as well, a room became free for the Saturday (provided, of course that I made a 2 night booking). So I've just done that, and in accordance with their t&cs I will 'shorten my stay' before 12 noon on my last day and get the money back for my 2nd night.

Seems fair to me.......

(Backstop position if they don't like it is to invoke their 'good night sleep or your money back' clause, but I really can't see it coming to that).

  • Let us know if this works!
  • I noticed whilst searching for a hotel room for one night over a weekend in October that many of the hotels have put in a 'we will charge £50 early leave' charge. I suspect this is because people have been booking two nights and leaving after one, remember that the hotel will have your credit card details.

    Update.........

yes it worked - even easier than I thought....

turned up on the Saturday to check in
"Ah yes Mr.P. - you're staying for two nights?"

"Well actually, I'm afraid we're going to have to leave tomorrow and only stay for the one night"

"That's fine - that will be just £55 then"

And I must say, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and very good breakfast as well ... credit where' it's due!
(for those of you who don't know, breakfast is extra at £5.25 for continental (though this can include porridge) or £7.50 for cooked b/f). Children eat free, so that's £70 for a family of 4 all in.
