I have Windows ME edition on my PC - i know i know...
I got an I Pod Nano for xmas but couldn't load I Tunes onto the computer, due to the operating system being incompatiable
I have managed to load songs onto my I Pod, and do everything i would wish to with an I Tunes format through RealPlayer
However a couple of days ago Realplayer has stopped recognising my I Pod! It is set to automatically identify any external hard drive device however it has decide, for some reason to stop
So now i have my I Pod Nano with only the tunes i have already on it locked on there, and no way of connecting the I Pod to my computer and manipulating the tracks/add new ones etc etc
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do??? Do you know a way of downloading I Tunes for Windows ME???
I am not computer literate, so i might be being completly dense, in which case feel free to be as patronising as possible! My housemate has mentioned i may need to download a I Pod Secret Agent program to help me save my I Pod tracks on my computer in a seperate drive, to ensure they are stored safe in more than one play - however i still don't have an interface on my computer anymore to play my I Pod through!
Thank you for yout time reading this, and for your help if you give it to me!!!

this is want you want http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/ but it aint free !
works with all windows formats from $200 -
Here you go, I did a post about such a thing only a while back. I don't like iTunes personally. Below talks about Portable Winamp, you copy the application onto your Nano, and can run it from your Nano, then simply use it to transfer tracks to and from.

And here's the ml_ipod website. Have a read through that, then if you're still stuck post on here.

If you're struggling to find a place to download Portable Winamp, I can chuck it up on my server briefly. Just send me a PM to request.
Oh, and it's all completely free."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
MediaMonkey has a lot of the same functions as Itunes and is in some ways much better.
But I've never used it with my Ipod so don't know what it can and can't do in that respect
Download.com lists it as working with ME0 -
Just had another look and it seems to recognize my Ipod and be ready to sync easy.
Can't try it though without messing up my music0 -
Mich_elle...I would second Wolfman and suggest that portable Winamp is a good solution. However, I can also highly recommend Sharepod - it's an application you put on your iPod, and run it from the iPod (which appears as a lettered drive when you connect to the PC). Sharepod is very basic, but very intuitive - and lets you copy back to the PC if you need to.
You can get it at http://www.sturm.net.nz/website.php?Section=iPod+Programs&Page=SharePod Once you've downloaded it, put the .exe file on your iPod (whatever drive it gets lettered as) then double click on it there to run it...should work!0 -
Ah nice, do remember hearing about SharePod. Will need to have a look at it. SharePod, or Portable Winamp are apps going in the right direction, as they run off your iPod.
Just means if you go to a computer other than your own, it doesn't need to have iTunes (or another 3rd party piece of software installed) as you can run SharePod/PWinamp directly from your iPod."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
