Hi,
I have just priced up some flights to the US through Orbitz and am getting prices approx £500 cheaper than booking through a UK site.
I have searched the T's & C's and it does say something thats very vague about potential surcharges etc.
I am wondering if anyone has had first hand experiance at booking a flight originating in the UK and travelling to the US through Orbitz?
Thanks in advance.

I've used CheapTickets.com which is one of the Orbitz sites - like Orbitz it's also mainly directed at US customers and seems to work in exactly the same way as Orbitz.com, just with a different colour scheme.
I had no problems booking with a UK address and credit card. I had to agree to some waiver of EU data protection rules - I guess this is what enabled them to forward my credit card details direct to the airline. My credit card statement showed one transaction from CheapTickets.com (their commission, about £25), then one transaction from the airline for each ticket. Even with the commission they were much cheaper than other sites.
I called their customer service line in the US to check that the tickets had been confirmed - customer service was up to American standards and open 24 hours.
I'd definitely use them again...Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Just had a quick looky looky and from some flights to NY its cheaper to buy them in pounds from virgin atlantic than go with orbitz and pay in dollars, and they were more expensive for a flight and hotel than expedia.co.uk, I suppose its just another company to factor in when your searching for flights/holidays.

If you look at MAN - ATL - 2 adults, 1 child + i infant on lap Flying on 31 Aug
Then LAX - MAN flying 17th Sept it comes to a total of:
$1619 (£850(ish))
The exact same flights booked through KLM (who the flights are with) are £13010 -
Im not denying they are cheaper for some flights etc however Im merely pointing out that when I priced up a trip to NY in aug, flights with virgin and then flights and hotel with expedia, both were cheaper than orbitz, dont get me wrong the next time im booking a holiday i'll happily look at the site however like all things it never hurts to compare and contrast with other companies.

I've been hunting all over the net for London to Los Angeles flights from November 26th - December 2nd and getting best price of £314 with 1-stop.
I've just tried Orbitz after reading this and they have one stop out and direct flight back for $363 with all taxes included !!!
Should i believe the "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" ?0 -

If you can pay by credit card the worst that will happen is that you will have to dispute the transaction with the credit card company and claim the money back under section 75 of the consumer credit act.
When I was looking for flights the CheapTickets site was offering an adult fare for £740 when most other sites were close to £1000. I'd been looking for so long that I just jumped at the chance and only later started to wonder if it was too good to be true. But no, it was all legit.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

This is the suspicious part - Although it says (included in fare) so i assume that this is actually included in the total price and not some surprise sting at the airport?
