The word ‘veal’ still conjures up frightful images of calves kept in the dark in crates unable even to turn around. Thankfully, that practice is now outlawed in Europe but the stigma lingers on and many people are reluctant to buy veal. However, top chefs are now singing the praises of organic rose veal – a beautifully tender meat.

Typically, an organic rose veal calf lives longer than an organic pig or most organic lambs and comes from animals that graze rich organic meadows. Eastbrook Farm has helped to lead the market for organic rose veal and Compassion in World Farming (CiWF) applauds this initiative for providing better lives for calves through higher welfare rearing systems and thereby helping to save them from the inhumane live export trade.

We want to give you an opportunity to sample organic rose veal for yourselves, so we are offering three lucky competition winners a taster box from award-winning Eastbrook Farm.

I admit I never buy veal - because of the way the calves were kept. I hadn't realised that things had changed.

    Thanks for posting. :T

I have to admit to being exactly the same. I hated seeing those poor animals on the tv.

So glad it has changed now & veal crates are banned across Europe.
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
