Insurance Companies Where I can use Motorbike NCD

Hi

Im looking to renew my husbands car insurance and im looking for companies that accept No Claims gained from Motorbike Insurance.

My husband has had his full driving license for 2 years during which he got 2 years NC and he also has (with the same company) 2 years NC from his motorbike insurance from before he got his full driving license, as his motorbike insurance was within 2 years of him starting his car insurance..

Can anyone recommend any insurance companies that would accept all 4 years NC?

Thanks

Generally look for companies that insure bikes and cars- Hastings Direct is a good one. Swiftcover also accepted bike NC a few years ago but I dont know if they still would

Few give discount on car for previous motorcycle NCD. The time to look for that reduction would have been when he started the car insurance. It is a shame he did not ask his current insurer or shop arround at that time. I very much doubt any will now give him 4 years NCD for 2 years on a car plus the previous two years on the bike.

Churchill accepted my sons NCB earned on a moped against a car policy. He could only use the NCB once though so lost it on the bike, £40 and used it on his car £700.

You will probably have to call them, or whoever you choose as most on-line quote wont be able to cope with 4 years NCB on a licence held for 2 years.

I know Direct Line also offer bike NCB for car policies but stipulate you must give up the bike, guess he could start another bike policy from scratch though.

He doesnt actually have the bike anymore.

He had a motorbike which he gained 2 years no claims on, then he passed his test and got a car instead, it was only through me looking through the site that I found out that they would accept the no claims from his previous bike insurance.

I should have explained properly, he is actually using the no claims from his bike insurance now and the car insurance for the last 2 years has built it up to 4 years no claims.

If the renewal notice from his current insurers just says 4 years NCB he should be able to use that with any insurer no problem.
If not, I've a feeling Carole Nash and or Adrian Flux can do something for you. I may be wrong though...
  • Carole Nash, who are principally a bike insurer, will let you use motorcycle NCB on a car insurance policy but you must hold a bike insurance policy with them at the same time.
