HP Monitor - Not "Fit for Purpose" or "Act Of GOD"? HELP

Hi All - maybe someone can advise or share their experience.
Earlier this year (2008) I bought myself a brand new 24" LCD screen (gave up smoking and saved the cash!!) - I have seen that three bugs have managed to get in between the LCD and the Murcury lamp and died there!
HP are saying that this is an ACT OF GOD and that they are not responsible - my take is that the unit is not fit for purpose as on should not expect the design or manufacture allow the ingress of these insects into the viewing area.
The screen has been in my kitchen and I am not in any way connected with allowing the bugs (as was suggested by the HP customer don't care dept).
Am I right to not expect the ingress of livestock or should I have had the monitor under a fly screen from day one and in a hematically sealed environment?

It certainly sounds not fit for purpose to me. The viewing area should be sealed. You might want to enlist the help of www.consumerdirect.gov.uk - I think the best way to describe this is that some foreign objects entered the TV's viewing area due to a manufacturing fault.0

Follow the guide on the above website and write to HP Head office with a complaint.
Phoning a support line is usually pretty pointless in resolving such issues.0 -
what sort of insects are they? Can you use a vacuum cleaner to see if you can suck them out?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Hi
They are I think "thunder bugs" about 0.5mm x 3mm - I have trued the vaccumme but to no avail.
Consumer Direct have given advice to write to the supplier (Dixons) and are sending a template letter to me.
Cheers

It's purpose is to provide a picture, therefore it is "fit". A few flies might be a minor distraction .....but that is all.
I had them in my Samsung for about 3 years.
Those little thunder flies will get into anything.0 -
Do you have legal cover with your home insurance?Could you ask them? An act of God hmm.. I think i would tell them to bug..ger off.0

I always thought 'acts of God' were particularly violent natural destructive events/catastophes - earthquakes, tornadoes, tidal waves, lightning strikes etc0
-
I believe He is - or was, during His Old Testament Days - also quite fond of plagues of insects.0

Those little !!!!!!s crawled into my laptop monitor when i first got it, I managed to coax them out before they died thou, maybe I just got lucky?0

It has happened on my last 2 monitors, i managed to take them apart and remove them they were trapped between the plastic filters
It is a very common problem, have you tried a can of compresed air ?, you can also tap the screen gently near them and they may fall to the bottom.0
